Maldives 2021 Day 5 - Champagne Life
At this point, I could almost just start copying and pasting each day’s post and replace a few of the variables from each day. Much is life in the Maldives and we are loving it. We did sleep in a bit more than the last few days but were able to catch the tail end of the sunrise and another beautiful morning. When we were flying out to the Maldives today was when the weather was supposed to turn for the worse but we haven’t seen any signs of it other than some showers while we were sleeping last night. So begrudgingly Jenn accompanied me back to the tennis court for our morning hit before heading to breakfast after getting cleaned up. Jenn continued her consistent eggs and waffles and today I tried their lobster omelet and dumplings. Both were great but I think I’ll have to go back to the duck confit between now and the end of our stay.
One of our favorite activities on the island has been biking around and so after breakfast today we decided to make a couple loops, seeing areas we hadn’t yet explored and enjoying the stunning weather before it got too hot to do so. When we got back to our room we enjoyed the morning with more reading and lounging. Jenn finished up her first book of the trip Emily Giffin’s The Lies that Bind which she enjoyed but didn’t love.
In the afternoon we jumped back on our bikes and went to the main pool where we enjoyed a Pina Colada and a change in scenery. Unlike the first day at the pool, it was much busier today but it was nice to be around people and see others that we flew in with on the seaplane enjoying the beautiful day. I wish there was more to say. We continue to enjoy reading, relaxing, and truly switching work and our phones off. We have made a very conscious effort to be off our phones, social media, and work as much as humanly possible and so far it’s been great for both of us.
This evening we decided to take a break from the restaurants and had room service. Jenn got the spaghetti Pomodoro and I had their club sandwich. We ended up popping the champagne that we got upon arrival and enjoyed dinner on our deck where we watched the sun go down and the stars come up. I’ll never forget this evening because we had a stunning red moon that for a few minutes looked like something from a science fiction film. Today was yet another phenomenal day of great weather, relaxation, and amazing meals. I’m trying to bottle up this feeling because I haven’t been this relaxed in a long, long time.
