With my 40th birthday in the rearview mirror, it was time to enjoy Jenn’s 39th birthday by taking a bullet train to Osaka. We started our time at Osaka Castle, bought antiques, and had an amazing teppanyaki dinner.

Today I turned 40. It’s hard to believe because I still feel like I just graduated from college and am still early in my career. And yet here we are, and I’m here in Tokyo eating amazing food, getting a massage, and turning 40, doing the things I love.
The Big 40 in Japan - Day 5 - Goodbye 30’s
It was my last day in my 30s, and we spent it being kids again at TeamLabs Tokyo, but ended it doing adult things like buying antiques for our house and having dinner and drinks at the Mandarin Oriental.
The Big 40 in Japan - Day 4: Watch the Fish
Jenn’s first full day joining Jake and me in Tokyo. While Jenn got acclimated, Jake and I saw a beautiful temple; he bought an antique watch, and we switched hotels to the Mandarin Oriental. We finished with a one-Michelin-star sushi restaurant.
The Big 40 in Japan - Day 3: The Big Day Trip
We made our way via train to the beachside town of Kamakura, about an hour's train ride from Tokyo and ended it back in Tokyo with a great multi-course dinner and a massive thunderstorm.

Our first full day in Tokyo was spent enjoying some of its beautiful landmarks, eating great food, and walking around the amazing city.
