Jenn Got a New Job & Car

Jenn never ceases to amaze me. A month ago she looked like she had something on her mind and sure enough that night she told me she had applied to Taco Bell for a management position of their internal communications. I went online right after she told me and knew she had a great chance at the position and sure enough after two rounds of interviews she got the job. It's a big promotion for her and I couldn't be happier for her. She has really loved her job at PIMCO but I think this new position is an even better fit for her. I sit here and can't even begin to describe how proud I am of her. She is fearless, she knows what she wants and never lets anyone stop her. I'm so excited for her to start the new job and knock Taco Bell's burritos off (see what I did there).

Hiking in Crystal Cove

We've lived in Orange County now for five years and as hard as we try to break out of routines we tend to stick to our favorite areas. However this weekend we finally branched out a little. This weekend being a three day weekend (thank you Presidents day) we took full advantage of the great weather and time to enjoy our beautiful home.

A Wonderful Valentines Day Evening

Its been a couple of years since Jenn and I actually went out to eat on Valentines day. We love to go out to eat but getting a reservation to somewhere decent is almost impossible so we have stayed in the last couple of years. This year Valentines day fell on a Friday which meant we both had to work. My original plan was to get home by 4:30 and cook a surprise dinner, but that didn't happen. Instead I got home at 5:30 due to horrific traffic and had to make a change on the fly.

Spurring the Moment, A Day at Universal Studios

The last couple of weekends have been amazing. We spent a lot of time together, taking long walks, playing board games, going to church, and watching a ton of TV and Movies. I knew one of these weekends we were going to have to shift the trend, and it just so happened to be this most recent one. On Saturday morning I went to get my hair cut at 18|8 in Costa Mesa, and got home a little after ten to a bright eyed Jenn who I knew instantly was up to something.

A Look Back on an Incredible 2013

One of my favorite things to do every year is to sit down and write this post. Its an incredible journey to look back on the year that was and to look ahead to the year that could be.

The year started with Jenn starting to get into a groove with her new job while I continued to pursue improving Darkstation. In fact the start of 2013 was a big for Darkstation as it was when we launched a brand new layout for the site. The layout was a modest improvement, streamlining some of our bigger traffic areas of the site (news, reviews, podcasts) while maintaining 10 years of content. I'm super proud not only of the redesign but for what we were able accomplish on the site in 2013.

Our Favorite Things from 2013

For the last two years (see 20112012) Jenn and I have been collaborating on a post we like to call "Our Favorite Things". Each year its an opportunity to look back on the year that was and remember the TV, Music, Movies, and memories we want to remember from those years. So as is now tradition here are our favorite things from 2013.
