TV Review: The Amazing Race 26 (Jenn Wins Again)
We cut the cord around a year ago. This means is that we watch a lot less network TV (CBS, NBC, ABC, FOX) then we used to and watch more of what's on stuff like Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime. One of the things we miss the most about having cable is watching shows like The Amazing Race and Top Chef. Well luckily we were able to get The Amazing Race Season 26 (the latest season). We started from the first episode and everyday during dinner would work our way through the season.
Movie Review: Minions
I think Jenn and I were over optimistic going in to see Minions. After the great Pixar movie Inside Out I think we were giving the kids movie genre a little more credit then we should. Lets face it, the people at Pixar are brilliant. Sadly Minions was anything but great. Lets backtrack just a bit. Minions were the sidekicks in the Despicable Me movies. The comedy arm of those movies. Taking those characters into their own feature film seems risky but all of the trailers leading up to this movie made it feel like it might be great.
Movie Review: Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation
Going into this review you should know two things about my opinions on Tom Cruise movies. First, I love The Last Samurai. Second I'm not a big fan of the Mission: Impossible movies. I might be one of the few that feels that way and it might tell you to exit out of this review right now. But if there's one thing I pride myself with on this blog its speaking my version of the truth. So there you have it. And yet Jenn somehow convinced me to go see the latest Mission: Impossible movie, Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation.
Movie Review: Ant-Man
For my birthday a couple weeks back Jenn treated me to quite the day. I wrote about that already. So without re-treading old material I will just say check out that post to see the full day recap. However the last stop on my birthday outing was to go see Marvel's latest movie Ant-Man. In all honesty Ant-Man was not on my radar. It didn't even make my most anticipated movies of the summer. But after hearing good things and reading its above average reviews I thought it might be another surprise like Guardians of the Galaxy.
TV Review: Daredevil Season 1
I rarely watch TV shows on my own. Most of the time Jenn and I will suffer through a show that the other likes. More times then not it's Jenn suffering through one my shows. However I would argue that watching one episode of The Bachelor or The Bachelorette should grant me a season of any show of my choosing. But I digress. When I saw the trailer for Daredevil at the beginning of 2015 I had a good feeling about it but I knew I'd never be able to get Jenn to watch it with me.
Saying Goodbye to The Daily Show With Jon Stewart
At some point in 2011 Jenn recommended we check out The Daily Show with Jon Stewart on Comedy Central. The only thing I knew about Jon Stewart at the time was that he had an acting role in the Adam Sandler movie, Big Daddy. Probably not something he wants to be remembered for. After the first episode of The Daily Show we were hooked. It became a nightly ritual. A staple in our home. He challenged a lot of what we believed at the time. Gay marriage, abortion, racial equality, veterans health care, the financial crisis, the modern 24/7 news outlets. The list goes on and on.
