Dinner Review: Houston's
It's no secret that Jenn and I are both foodies. We spend far more time then we ought to figuring out our menu's for the week and deciding on new places to go eat. One of the things Jenn has done is make a giant list on Wunderlist of places to try in Orange County. And then on occasions where we want to go have a date night or celebrate something we have a ton of options to choose from. This past week we decided to have a nice dinner date at Houston's in Irvine.
Chef Joel & Jenn: Cheddar, Bacon, and Jalapeño Frittata
And we are back. That's right another Chef Joel & Jenn is ready for your culinary enjoyment. We've started a new plan for our new recipes. We will switch off who gets to choose the new recipe. It can be so hard to choose between the various things we want to cook that it is nice to pick every other new recipe. This weeks choice is Jenn's who immediately flipped past dinner items and went straight for breakfast. She landed on a Cheddar, Bacon, and Jalapeño Frittata.
Date Night Recap: Dinner at Social and The Illusionists
I've been meaning to write this post for a couple of weeks now. That's the problem with so much going on in the World of Joel I just have far too much to write about. One of the big reasons I hadn't written about this great date night was that I had a ton of blog posts already written and scheduled for the last couple of weeks. Once those caught up with me it gave me a great excuse to write a quick recap on an incredible date night.
Chef Joel & Jenn: Honey Sriracha Lime Chicken Skillet
It's hard to imagine but this is already our fourth new recipe we've cooked in 2016. When you consider that almost every other weekend something has been going on I will take it. We've been oscillating between two different cookbooks. This week we are back with Dinner For Two and we decided if we are really going to give this cookbook a go, we should cook what's on the cover. In this case that's a Siracha Lime Chicken.
Chef Joel & Jenn: Corn Chowder
After two weeks of traveling up and down the west coast of the United States we had a weekend reprieve from the craziness. We spent much of the weekend doing absolutely nothing, but we did make time for a new recipe. We've done a lot of different proteins for our main courses but never a soup. After falling in love with all of the chowders in Seattle we decided to try and make our own.
Chef Joel & Jenn: Thai Peanut Curry Noodle Stir Fry with Shrimp
A week ago we started shopping for all of our groceries at Whole Foods. This marks week two and so far so good. We haven't seen a substantial raise in our cost of groceries. We usually just buy for the week ahead and so far the prices for what we normally buy is pretty comparable. We've noticed a slight uptick in quality as well and just outright enjoy the shopping experience at Whole Foods. This is also the second week in a row that we've taken a recipe from my new cookbook, Dinner for Two.
