Chef Joel & Jenn: Saffron & Tomato Bucatini Pasta
Jenn and I are now on our third round of Blue Apron. We've kind of gotten into a routine (both positive and negative) of getting a Steak. Chicken, and Pasta meal for each of these. It's sort of disheartening because that's typically what we cook anyways. So if we are to continue ordering Blue Apron we've both decided that we're going to try to be a little more adventuresome.
Chef Joel & Jenn: Persian-Style Chicken & Crispy Rice
We've made it to the third and final recipe on our first round of Blue Apron (yes there's going to be more coming soon). The first two recipes (Seared Steak & Creamy Lumaca) were huge successes. The third was the recipe that both Jenn and I were least excited about. What could really be exciting about a chicken dish? I mean its chicken. Wow was I wrong, this was my favorite of the three recipes.
Dinner Review: Oak Grill
A couple of years ago it felt like Jenn and I were going to restaurants with Groupon's or Travelzoo's every weekend. That's tailed off tremendously as fewer restaurants have offered up these deals. A couple of weeks ago I stumbled upon a deal to go to Oak Grill at the Island Hotel only a couple of steps away from our new apartment, so we of course obliged.
Chef Joel & Jenn: Creamy Lumaca Rigata Pasta
As you've probably read in my last Chef Joel & Jenn post, we've started a subscription at Blue Apron. This first batch of meals (3 in total) only cost us $20 (normally $60) to give us a sense if it's a service we like. After tonight's meal, the Lumaca Rigata Pasta, I think we might be converts.
Chef Joel & Jenn: Seared Steaks & Salsa Verde
Back in 2015 when the meal delivery services first started to make a splash on the scene, Jenn got my a subscription to Plated for Valentines Day. We did two rounds of the service (here's one of the recipes), each round with two meals. And although the food was good, the prep time and the cost both really turned us off from continuing. In the last two years, we've gotten more and more into cooking so we decided to try a different service, this time the king of the meal delivery services, Blue Apron.

After two fabulous mini-vacations its been nice to get back into a somewhat normal routine and enjoy some good old fashion home cooking. I'm not sure what spurred on the latest recipe, but I woke up on Sunday morning craving shrimp tacos. I ended up scouring the internet for a shrimp taco recipe (something I've never made) and came across one on GimmeDelicious.com.
