Book Review: Cometh the Hour
There's something to be said for consistency. Although Jeffrey Archer has written some truly amazing novels over the years, the longer the Clifton Chronicles goes the more familiar his tropes become. Cometh the Hour is the sixth (out of seven planned) book in the series, a series in my opinion which feels like its overstayed its welcome. However unlike the last two novels which had some truly outlandish set pieces, Cometh the Hour felt more like a return to form.
Book Review: Calamity
I love this series. I absolutely adore it. However, I still had major reservations on whether Brandon Sanderson would be able to pull off finishing the trilogy as well as he started it. The good news is that I think Calamity is a brilliant novel and is just as good if not better then the two novels (Steelheart & Firefight) before it.
Book Review: Slaughterhouse-Five
As I grow more and more in love with reading I have been trying to expand out to authors I haven't already been exposed to. I take recommendations from wherever I can get them. I read a book last year, The Universe Versus Alex Woods that spent a lot of time talking about a book club that just focused in on the work of Kurt Vonnegut. These raving endorsements put Vonnegut on my radar and so this past week I read through my first Vonnegut novel, Slaughterhouse-Five.
2016 Reading Challenge: Books 6-10
I’m happy to say that at the time of this writing I’m a couple of books ahead of my plan to read 28 books in 2016. Part of that is that the first couple of books I read were of the shorter variety and the other part is that I’ve really been loving everything I’ve been reading. I’m now ready to make the list of the next five books I’m going to read as part of my push to read 28 books in 2016. Here we go with books six through ten.
Book Review: A Man Called Ove
I've read some truly incredible novels in 2016, but one that now holds a special place in my heart is A Man Called Ove. As the title suggests the book is about a man named Ove who is growing older and dealing with the latter parts of his life. Without giving anything away, Ove is a man who's principled. He believes certain things very strongly and lives within his own ideals.
Book Review: Modern Romance
I enjoyed Aziz Ansari in Parks and Recreation but I really fell in love with Aziz as an actor and a comedic genius when I watched his Netflix show, Master of None. It was within days of finishing the first season of Master of None that I broke down and purchased his novel Modern Romance. I didn't even read the description of the book before buying.
