2016 Reading Challenge: Books 6-10
I’m happy to say that at the time of this writing I’m a couple of books ahead of my plan to read 28 books in 2016. Part of that is that the first couple of books I read were of the shorter variety and the other part is that I’ve really been loving everything I’ve been reading. I’m now ready to make the list of the next five books I’m going to read as part of my push to read 28 books in 2016. Here we go with books six through ten.
#6: Slaughterhouse Five by Kurt Vonnegut
Last year one of my favorite books was The Universe Versus Alex Woods. In that novel the main protagonist started a book club where all they did was read Kurt Vonnegut novels. At that point I had never even heard of the author but after digging in a bit I found out he’s a big deal. I did some research and decided that Slaughterhouse Five would be where I start my Vonneguteducation.
#7: Calamity by Brandon Sanderson
Depending on when I get to this point will depend on when I actually read Calamity by Brandon Sanderson. This is the third and final novel in the Reckoners trilogy and I couldn’t be more excited to see how Sanderson finishes it off. The first two novels have been 5* reads for me and I really hope that Calamity can make it a perfect trifecta.
#8: Cometh the Hour by Jeffrey Archer
Ever get into a series so deep that you feel like you have invested to much to give up? That's basically the point I've gotten in the Clifton Chronicles. They are still good books but the length to which Archer has gone to keep the twists and turns coming has started to get old. I'll finish the series now that I'm six books in on a seven book series.
#9: A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara
I've started to listen to a number of book podcasts, all of which have different tastes and styles. One book though that has come up on so many different best of 2015 lists is A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara. I don't know much other then it is a pretty long novel that is supposed to be a tough read. I'm willing to give it a shot so I am hoping for the best.
#10: The Long Earth by Terry Pratchett & Stephen Baxter
I've had The Long Earth on my "to-read" list for at least three years. From what I understand this is a science fiction novel but with a twist. I've heard such mixed reviews on this novel that I'm just excited to jump in and see if I was late to the party or should have avoided this one all along.
