French Open Trip 2018 Day 6: A Family Affair
At 1 AM a couple of months back Jenn and I had planned to buy tickets to Roland Garros for one day. But then once we had purchased for Monday, Jenn spent ten seconds to convince me to buy a second day. And after today, I'm so glad she did. We woke up at around 9 AM and got ready a little before 11 AM to head back out to Roland Garros.
French Open Trip 2018 Day 5: Joel's Perfect Day
If I was to describe to someone my perfect day, today would probably be it. It had Jenn, Paris, tennis, French food, and French wine. But I'm getting ahead of myself lets start at the beginning. Today marked the first day of two in which Jenn and I were going to Roland Garros. We had grand plans originally. We were going to wake up, have an early breakfast, and take the subway down to Roland Garros.
French Open Trip 2018 Day 4: We Should Have Never Left
The time has come for us to pack our bags and jump on a train. Before falling asleep last night both Jenn and I packed up most of our suitcases to get us ready for a 9:30 AM direct train from Geneva to Paris. We woke up a little before 8 AM, finished packing and headed out to the train station. The taxi ride to the station took all but five minutes and a few minutes later we were at our train stop with Starbucks in hand waiting for our train.
French Open Trip 2018 Day 3: Dinner with Uncle Felix
When we finally woke up this morning a little after 10 AM we weren't sure how long the sun was going to hold out. Although the weather called for a beautiful day the clouds looked menacing. Luckily by the time, we left our hotel room a little after 11 AM it had turned into a beautiful overcast day.
French Open Trip 2018 Day 2: The Lake's Half Full
We try so hard to fight jet lag, but so far jet lag is undefeated. We woke up in the middle of the wee hours of the morning and watched some Netflix before falling back asleep at 6 AM before waking up at 10 AM. We probably could have kept sleeping but we knew if we did we miss a beautiful day in Geneva, so we got up. I went for a run along the lake while Jenn got ready for the day.
French Open Trip 2018 Day 1: Say Cheese
After what feels like a lifetime, we've finally arrived at our first big trip of 2018. I remember when Jenn first put up the "Countdown to the French Open Trip" on our chalkboard in our apartment. It had just reached the 100-day prior mark. This morning we left our apartment in Newport Beach and grabbed a Lyft to take us to LAX. More then any other trip, we were probably the least prepared for this one. Although we've been meticulously counting down to it, the last month or so really snuck up on us. We were packing and printing out boarding passes right up to the point where Ulises picked us up in his Kia Optima.
