Mini Family Vacation - Grand Canyon 2017
Last year most of my siblings (outside of Ally) took a weekend trip to Catalina. It was such a hit that we decided to up the ante and go on a road trip over Memorial Day weekend. The genesis actually began as a gift for Jake (my younger brother) for his 26th birthday. One by one we all decided to tag along before there were six of us piled into a mini-van bright and early on Friday, May 26th.
Phoenix Trip Day 4: Keep the Champagne Flowing
You know my only problem with mini-vacations? They go by far too quick. Today marks the last day of our quick trip to Scottsdale and boy was it a great way to end the trip. We woke up to the devastating Wimbledon finals where Federer had his opportunities to take a record 8th Wimbledon championship but fell just short. Luckily the match ended only fifteen minutes before our reservations for Sunday brunch at The Phoenician.
Phoenix Trip Day 3: The Championship Phoenician
After a brilliant first day at The Phoenician it was time to dive deep into vacation mode. Saturday as all about relaxing. We woke up late and laid around our room until around 9AM. When we both finally got hungry we drove to a local breakfast spot called The Good Egg. We've actually been to two other Good Egg's (once in Vegas and once in Phoenix) and so we knew we liked it. Jenn got a normal scrambled egg breakfast and I had a ham cheese and pepper omelet. It was also the first good cup of coffee I had the entire trip so that was a highlight.
Phoenix Trip 2014 Day 2: The Good Life
You would think with "monsoon" like storms on our first night in Phoenix we would have slept horribly. But actually we slept in until almost 8:30AM before finally mustering enough stamina to get out of bed. That didn't last long as we turned on the Men's Wimbledon Semi-Final with Roger Federer and Milos Raonic. Luckily Fed made quick work of Ranoic and from there we went back out to enjoy a beautiful day at the lazy river.
Phoenix Trip 2014 Day 1: Lazy River
Jenn and I very rarely go on mini-vacations. We tend to save up all our vacation days for the big international trips we try to take at least once a year. Our last vacation was to China/Bali back in September of 2013 which means its been nearly ten months since we stepped off the bus completely and got away. With July 4th coming around the corner we decided at the very last minute to book a four night vacation to Phoenix something we used to do with Jenn's parents years ago. You might be thinking, why would anyone go to the Arizona desert in the dead heat of summer? And I'd say to you I'm not sure, but we always have a great time, and this time was no exception.
