3D Trip 2022 Day 7 - 360 of Dubrovnik

One thing I love about this trip specifically is that Jenn and I spent a lot more time thinking about how we wanted the days to flow to ensure we got to relax and enjoy these spectacular places. After an 8+ hour wine tour, we knew we’d want to keep it light today. We had “extra credit” on the itinerary to go visit Lokrum Island across from us but we decided against it, opting for a more relaxing day. We went down for breakfast a little after 9 AM and got to see the beautiful picture-perfect morning. Jenn had scrambled eggs with bacon and waffles and I had an omelet with sausage.

We left breakfast and went back to the old town to conquer the walls. When we were here in 2012 we did a small section of them but today before it got too hot we were determined to conquer the entire wall. For an hour we climbed the many stairs and made our way around the beautiful old town taking in views of the town, fortress, and sea. It’s really incredible how well maintained the entire complex is and from start to finish we enjoyed every corner of Dubrovnik. We thankfully brought a lot of water with us but by the time we were done an hour later, we had fully depleted all of it.

After working up a big sweat and taking in the beautiful surroundings we made our way back to our hotel about a five-minute walk from the gates of the old town. We quickly got into our bathing suits and spent the next four hours enjoying a Pina colada and reading our books. Jenn is now reading The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and I started A Fire Sparkling. We jumped into the pool and ocean a few times to cool off on this 80-degree day. It was such a pleasant and relaxing afternoon that by the time 5 PM rolled around it was hard to leave, but dinner was calling.

Our last dinner in Dubrovnik was the one I was most looking forward to. We made our way a little early to do a final walk around the old town before heading to the only Michelin star in Dubrovnik, 360 Dubrovnik. We arrived a few minutes after our 6:30 reservation and got a seat “on the wall.” What’s so interesting about this restaurant is that it is built into the wall. The tables where you dine are spread throughout the wall and you have stunning views of the harbor and sunset. Jenn started off with an Italian pinot grigio and I had a Croatian sparkling wine. We opted for the three-course menu where we were given some small bites to begin our meal. It consisted of their take on a small flatbread pizza, tuna tartare, and foie gras. Stunning starters and got us excited for the rest of the meal.

For our first course, Jenn went with the beef ravioli which was such an odd item on the menu but it blew our socks off. For a country known for its fish, this was a great dish. For my starter, I had the langoustines on top of mashed potatoes which was such an odd pairing. The langoustine was nice but the pairing and sauce were very odd. Jenn won this round.

For our main entrees, Jenn went with the seabass which is one of their classic dishes. It was prepared with a nice crispy crust but it was a solid but not overly exciting dish. I instead had the pigeon which was out of this world. You don’t order pigeon expecting a massive amount of meat but what I did get was flavorful, well sauced, and perfectly cooked. I won the second round.

We finished off our meal with dessert where Jenn had the chocolate with raspberries and I had the coffee cheesecake. We both won this round as we both ordered the desserts that completely fit our taste profiles. After we polished off our desserts we were given a few after-dinner chocolates and treats to close out a perfect meal. We left 360 Dubrovnik a little after 9 PM and did a quick last walk around the old town before calling it a night. We made it back to our hotel, packed up, watched another terrible episode of Indian Matchmaker on Netflix, and went to sleep to get ready for our flight to Copenhagen tomorrow.
