TV Review: Jessica Jones Season 1
Nearly six months after the release of Daredevil on Netflix comes Jessica Jones. If you didn’t read my review of Daredevil you should know that it was one of my favorite shows of 2015 and is one I’m eagerly anticipating the release of season two in early 2016. I remember watching the trailers for Jessica Jones over the summer and not being sure whether or not it would live up to the high bar set by Daredevil but I’m happy to report the first 13-episode season of Jessica Jones was phenomenal.
TV Review: Transparent Season 1
One of the shows that's been on Jenn and I's "to watch list" (which we do keep track of on Wunderlist) has been Amazon's first big hit, Transparent. It's a show that has gotten so much buzz both from an award standpoint and also just word of mouth. I've had several people tell me that I would love Transparent. A couple of weeks back when we finished up Man in the High Castle we moved on from one Amazon show to another with Transparent.
We Finished All Ten Seasons of Friends
If you're like Jenn and I you spent a lot of the late 90's and early 2000's in love with Friends. I know we both have watched most of the episodes but we were both going through Junior High and High School when the show was on so we definitely didn't watch all of it. At the start of 2015 Netflix added all ten season to their streaming service and so Jenn and I made it our "fill in" show for much of last year into the first month of 2016.
Movie Review: Beasts of No Nation
I had a couple of vacation days that I had to use this year so I took the week of Christmas off. Although I spent much of the break playing Assassin's Creed: Syndicate and spending time with Jenn I did get a chance to take two hours out of my vacation to watch the Netflix movie, Beasts of No Nation. The movie stars Idris Elba as a war lord in an unknown country in Africa and a boy Agu played by Abraham Attah.
TV Review: The Man in the High Castle
At the end of 2015 Jenn and I spent most of December finishing our 12 Days of Christmas Movies which we successfully completed. However during the nights we weren't watching Love Actually or Miracle on 34th Street we watched the 10-episode first season of The Man in the High Castle on Amazon. Of any show this year, The Man in the High Castle had a premise that hooked me before I watched a minute of the show. The show is based off the famous Phillip K. Dick novel of the same name which explores a world in which the Nazi's and Japanese won World War II.
Jenn Grabs a Win at the 2016 Golden Globes
Another year and another evening of Jenn and I watching The Golden Globes. The Golden Globes are always an interesting award show. I'm not sure anyone takes them seriously and that might be why we enjoy them so much. That and they welcomed back Ricky Gervais for the forth time who absolutely crushed it in both his opening monologue and his brief snippets throughout the show. I still cannot believe how much NBC had to bleep out of the show this year. Maybe it's time they drop the filter?
