After absolutely loving the first two seasons of House of Cards, Jenn and I ventured onto the other Netflix original, Orange is the New Black. You might remember that the show made my list of shows I wanted to watch and I'm glad we finally took the plunge. With news that Season 2 was about to release Jenn and I jumped in and just recently finished Season 1.

After the dud that was Godzilla, I was ready to see a good movie. After the incredible reviews for X-Men: Days of Future Past I pushed even harder for Jenn and I to go see the movie, even if Jenn has never seen an X-Men movie before. I've been a huge fan of the franchise (especially X-Men and X-2) and was really looking forward to the cross-over between the old X-Men cast and that of the X-Men First Class. Luckily the movie did not disappoint. 

A couple of weeks back Jake got offered his first full-time job since graduating college. He accepted the position and will be starting (will have started by the time this posts) on Tuesday May 27th. Jenn and I couldn't have been prouder of him so we decided to go out the three of us and celebrate at Ruth Chris here in Irvine. Before we went we had some and and went to (its Jake of course) take pictures to commemorate the moment. 

Back in February Jenn and I purchased a parking pass for the State Parks which allows us to park at the state beaches and parks as much as we want for the next year. Our go-to Saturday morning activity since picking up the pass has been hiking Crystal Cove. For us its less about the hiking and more about just spending time together outside and taking advantage of where we live. However since the first hike we promised each other that we would complete treacherous nine mile perimeter hike; the most difficult trail available at Crystal Cove. 

Last season I was successful in picking the winning team of Season 23 of The Amazing Race. Season 24 of The Amazing Race was an All-Stars edition which meant racers from past seasons got a chance to come back and try to do better then the last time they were on the race. 

I'm coming to find that maybe I'm growing out of the doomsday movie genre. Either that or I just haven't watched a good one in a while. On Friday (5/16) we went to go see Godzilla at the Big Newport Cinema in Fashion Island after having happy hour at Yard House. Both Jenn and i were super excited to see the movie but both of us came out of the movie scratching our heads wondering what we just wasted our time seeing.
