Movie Review: American Hustle
After coming away pretty disappointed by The Wolf of Wall Street, Jenn and I went into seeing American Hustle with a little trepidation. Luckily within the first ten minutes our fears were gone and we were in for one great movie.
We Watched a Lot of Movies/TV in 2013
At the beginning of 2013 I began using a service called Trakt which keeps track of all the TV and Movies you watch. Its best as an iOS app and basically after Jenn and I got done watching a movie or TV show I would record it in the Trakt app. It started more as a mere fascination with how much we watched but ended up being something I really enjoyed using. The Trakt app is quite good and there is a little joy that comes from marking yet another episode of the Daily Show off.
A Look Back on an Incredible 2013
One of my favorite things to do every year is to sit down and write this post. Its an incredible journey to look back on the year that was and to look ahead to the year that could be.
The year started with Jenn starting to get into a groove with her new job while I continued to pursue improving Darkstation. In fact the start of 2013 was a big for Darkstation as it was when we launched a brand new layout for the site. The layout was a modest improvement, streamlining some of our bigger traffic areas of the site (news, reviews, podcasts) while maintaining 10 years of content. I'm super proud not only of the redesign but for what we were able accomplish on the site in 2013.
Our Favorite Things from 2013
For the last two years (see 2011, 2012) Jenn and I have been collaborating on a post we like to call "Our Favorite Things". Each year its an opportunity to look back on the year that was and remember the TV, Music, Movies, and memories we want to remember from those years. So as is now tradition here are our favorite things from 2013.
Movie Review: The Wolf of Wall Street
The Wolf of Wall Street might be the most over-the-top, gratuitous movie I've ever seen. Going in you know this a movie all about excess, but the lengths in which Martin Scorsese goes to portray it, was to much for me. Its a three hour movie and he takes more times then I can count to show the incredible excess that these crook stockbrokers have.
A Great Day of Golf With Jake
It's the day after Christmas and all of Southern California basked in the glory of its amazing weather. Jake and I indulged ourselves into the fine sport of golf and had a fun nine holes at the Newport Beach Golf Course; an Executive Par 3 course a couple of miles from our apartment.
