A Look Back - March 2021

It’s hard to imagine that this is the last time (maybe for a long time) that I will be writing a monthly recap from California. It’s been such a beautiful respite for us while we tried to ride out as much of the pandemic as we could. Now it does feel like the right time for us to return home and continue our life in the big city. Until then though we had one full beautiful month left in California and we enjoyed it with a week off, some furniture shopping, and the start of another cross country move.

And like that we’ve moved from 2020 to a new year. And although nothing has really changed from year-to-year, it does feel nice to have said goodbye to 2020 even if it was only symbolically. And so the new year is here and with it brought terror, hope, and a lot of work.

Recap of My Goals for 2020 - How Did I Do?

What a challenging year to really keep any goal. By the end of March, the world had completely come to a stop and it really hasn’t come back alive since. I had set a few goals that were no longer going to be possible like 13 tasting menus or 300 runs. But even with the year working against me I was able to at least accomplish a lot of what I set out to do.

A Look Back - December 2020

It sort of blows my mind that I’m sitting here in Newport Beach looking out on a 65-degree day as December winds to a close and starting to think about writing my year-in-review. It has been a year not like any other and a December not like any other as well. But even with all of its challenges December and the holidays still happened and although they were different this year we weren’t going to not celebrate them.
