Sometimes the Right Decisions are the Toughest Decisions...Deciding to Sell our Home
When I started blogging in 2003 I used it as a journal. A way to just jot down thoughts about my day, my life, my friends, my tennis career, and my pursuit of Jenn. It slowly morphed from that into a highlight reel of my life. A way for me to have a place to look back on the fond memories. A timeline of events so that one day in the future when I want to remember what I ate in Paris in 2008 when I got off the train I can (it was shrimp risotto from the hotel room service). It's an amazing life to write about. I've been blessed. I have an incredible, amazing wife who's my best friend. I have the best family I could ask for. I have a great job. I get to travel the world. I've been incredibly blessed.
A Beautiful Sunday at the Temecula Vineyards
Every year for Amy's birthday, Jenn and Ally join her to go to the Temecula wine country for a few days of R&R. Well I never get invited to that and always feel like I'm missing out. So this past weekend I invited myself along with Jenn (who's always invited) Jake and Amy while Ally was in Cancun. We met Jake and Amy down in Temecula after going to the 9AM service of church at Mariners over this past Memorial Day weekend.
Goodbye Honda Fit and Hello to my New 2015 Toyota Prius
In 2007 I purchased a Black Toyota Prius. At the time I was going to be driving to UCI from Riverside and I loved how forward thinking Toyota was with its Hybrid. Plus you couldn't beat nearly 50 MPG. Five years later I was working full time and I had put nearly 150K miles on it and the front dashboard had completely gone out. Money was tight so I went and purchased a 2012 Honda Fit. One of the worst car decisions I ever made. It's not that it was a bad car it was just as basic and dull as they come.
Casa de Szerlip: Nespresso Vertuoline
For the last five years I've been strictly a Keurig coffee drinker for my at home coffee consumption. It's the perfect device to wake up, throw a pod in and have a good cup of coffee. But as anyone who's had a Keurig knows they aren't the most reliable. My Keurig broke probably a half dozen times in the five years I had it and required heavy cleaning to even get it to work. In the last month or two I was having to re-clean it over and over to get even close to a half cup of coffee per pour. Not worth it. So it was time for a change.
Casa de Szerlip: New Carpet Makes a Big Difference
After deciding to stay in our new home we've begun doing the renovations we were going to do back in February. The best part of waiting has been re-prioritizing what we wanted to get done for the house. After removing those ugly built-ins from the second bedroom and the atrium we were on to the second project, the carpet.
Celebrating My Parents 30th Wedding Anniversary
This past weekend we (being Jake, Amy, Ally, Jenn and I) planned a surprise wedding anniversary celebration for my parents 30th wedding anniversary. For their 25th we all went up to San Luis Obispo where they went on their honeymoon and surprised my mom with a big celebration dinner at the Madonna Inn (a pretty weird place). We didn't want to go as big for their 30th but we still wanted to surprise them.
