Celebrating My Parents 30th Wedding Anniversary
This past weekend we (being Jake, Amy, Ally, Jenn and I) planned a surprise wedding anniversary celebration for my parents 30th wedding anniversary. For their 25th we all went up to San Luis Obispo where they went on their honeymoon and surprised my mom with a big celebration dinner at the Madonna Inn (a pretty weird place). We didn't want to go as big for their 30th but we still wanted to surprise them.

This past Sunday my parents came down to see our house for the first time since we're now officially staying in our new home. So they came down under those pretenses. What they didn't know was that the whole family would be there with balloons and streamer waiting for them to arrive.
After the initial surprise we all went for a great brunch at the Balboa Bay Club. Jenn and I had eaten there a couple years back to watch the boat parade and weren't overly impressed, but brunch was much better. We had a great table right on the water in a nice secluded spot. The way their brunch works is that they have an abbreviated buffet with cheeses, seafood and fruit, and then you get to order an entree from the menu. Jenn went with the steak and eggs and I had the crab eggs Benedict. Both were really great. The other breakfast orders included the waffles and quiche.

Once we had drunk all their champagne and ate more jumbo shrimp then we could all muster we made our way to the Marriott (right across from The Colony where we used to live) and went to see where my parents got married 30 years ago, an annual tradition for them. It was a really nice day and surprising them was a lot of fun. They are really an inspiration to all of us and we couldn't be happier to celebrate their 30th anniversary.
