My Personal Goals for 2018

Last year was an incredibly successful year for my own personal goals. Although I didn't accomplish them all, I'm insanely proud that I was able to keep focused on them through the year. We're now three weeks into 2018, so I'm a little late in posting my goals for the year. Luckily they've been in my moleskin notebook since mid-December, so I've been prepared. Here are the big goals for 2018!

GOAL #1: READ 32 BOOKS
Stretch Goal - Read 2 books that are longer than 750 pages

In years past I've added one book to my total per year. In 2018 I decided to jump up from a 30 book goal to 32. Part of that is to line up my goal with how old I will be this year. The other part is that with GamersRead and a long commute I should be able to hit the goal. If I ever do change jobs or get closer to home I will have to re-think the goal. But for now, 32 books is it and I'm super excited about it.

GOAL #2: USE HABITIFY APP WITH 250 DAYS OF PERFECT PERFORMANCE
Stretch Goal - 300 Days of Perfect Performance

I've changed from using an app called Productive to an app called Habitify. Their function is almost identical, but I liked the Habitify design better. The basic premise is that there are daily tasks that I want to stay on top of. Those include dental hygiene, personal hygiene, working out, steps, and more. For me, these are hugely important and help keep me accountable on a daily basis.

GOAL #3: Run 300 Times in 2018

Stretch Goal - Run 1,000 miles in 2018

Of all the goals from 2017, I cannot believe that I was able to run over 1,000 miles in over 300 runs. Had you asked me if I'd be able to do that 3 years ago I would have laughed and said absolutely not. I now genuinely love my morning runs. They're almost like meditation. It's a great way to start the day and clear my head.

GOAL #4: KEEP WEIGHT < 140 LBS AT YEAR-END 2018

Stretch Goal - Never go over 140 lbs for the entire year

It's not just the number on this goal that matters, its the fact that this number of 140lbs means I keep a focus on fitness and health throughout the year. It's a weight that I feel very comfortable in and hope that like the last two years I can keep it under throughout.

GOAL #5: WRITE 12 CHEF JOEL & JENN POSTS IN 2018

Last year I put to lofty of a goal to hit and didn't come close. My goal is that Jenn and I try 12 new recipes in 2018. If we're lucky a couple of them can become permanent staples for our weekly meals. I love cooking so I hope that 2018 has plenty of great food and even better wine.

GOAL #6: Complete Remaining Travel Photo Books

Stretch Goal - Make book for 2018 trip

Starting in 2008 I began putting together photo books for our big trips. In 2012 I fell behind and as of right now I have six books to put together throughout this year starting with our trip to Beijing/Bali and ending with our Grand Adventure in 2017. These books bring us so much joy, that I just need to set aside the time to put them together.
