Chef Joel & Jenn: Honey Sriracha Lime Chicken Skillet
It's hard to imagine but this is already our fourth new recipe we've cooked in 2016. When you consider that almost every other weekend something has been going on I will take it. We've been oscillating between two different cookbooks. This week we are back with Dinner For Two and we decided if we are really going to give this cookbook a go, we should cook what's on the cover. In this case that's a Siracha Lime Chicken.
Chef Joel & Jenn: Corn Chowder
After two weeks of traveling up and down the west coast of the United States we had a weekend reprieve from the craziness. We spent much of the weekend doing absolutely nothing, but we did make time for a new recipe. We've done a lot of different proteins for our main courses but never a soup. After falling in love with all of the chowders in Seattle we decided to try and make our own.
Chef Joel & Jenn: Thai Peanut Curry Noodle Stir Fry with Shrimp
A week ago we started shopping for all of our groceries at Whole Foods. This marks week two and so far so good. We haven't seen a substantial raise in our cost of groceries. We usually just buy for the week ahead and so far the prices for what we normally buy is pretty comparable. We've noticed a slight uptick in quality as well and just outright enjoy the shopping experience at Whole Foods. This is also the second week in a row that we've taken a recipe from my new cookbook, Dinner for Two.
Chef Joel & Jenn: Pork Chops with Mushroom, Onion and Rosemary Cream Sauce
I'm not sure what I did but I somehow have convinced Jenn doing a new recipe every week is a great idea and she is now fully on-board. In fact she seems to be even more excited about the new recipes then I am and wants to invest in more cook books. For Christmas she even bought me a new cookbook called Dinner for Two written by a blogger who's website I frequent quite a bit, TableforTwo. There are a ton of recipes in the book but the first one we stumbled on was the Pork Chops with Mushrooms, Onion and a Rosemary Cream Sauce.
Date Night: Leatherby's Cafe Rouge & The Nutcracker
Although the new year isn't upon us just yet we are gearing up for it in a big way. One of the resolutions you will read about in a couple of weeks is both Jenn and my desire to get out more and go to the theater. Our first foray back into the theater happened for our anniversary at South Coast Rep to go see One Man, Two Guvnors. Easily one of the best plays we've ever seen. From that spurred on a renaissance in the Szerlip household to embrace the theater. Our latest adventure had us going to an incredible dinner followed by The Nutcracker.
Chef Joel & Jenn: Shredded Chicken Tacos
Jake has been telling me that the best way to make chicken tacos is in the crock pot. I've been hesitant as all of the chicken I've done previously in the crock pot has always dried out. The last go at it was the Tikka Masala which had a ton of ingredients and turned out good but quite dry. Needless to say we were skeptical going into this recipe.
