Dinner Review: Fig & Olive
At this point Jenn and I have ate at almost every restaurant in Fashion Island. It was our home for so many years that it often made for great date nights. The one remaining restaurant that we hadn't tried was the somewhat newly built/opened Fig & Olive. At our dinner a couple of weeks prior having dinner at North Italia I mentioned to Jenn that Fig & Olive had a Groupon special going on, I preceded to show her the deal when she then hit purchase. And like that this date night was set up.
We got to Fig & Olive a little after 5:30 and the place was already filling up. That's saying something for what is a giant restaurant. When we got to our seats our waitress gave us the run down of what's included in the Groupon special. Jenn started out with a glass of red wine and I had an old fashion. We then got to choose three crostini to start with. We had the Shrimp, Avocado, Cilantro, Tomato, Octopus, Hummus, Pimenton, and the Burrata, Tomato, Pesto, Balsamic. All three were great. We both live small bites that are bursting with flavor.
We then had the option to go with an appetizer or a dessert. We chose dessert so we will come back to that. For our main courses we got to choose anything on the menu. Jenn went with the Rosemary Lamb Chops and I had the Veal Milanese. Both were out of this world. Jenn's lamb was perfectly prepared and was incredibly juicy. Jenn's a big fan of lamb and even she was impressed. My veal was spectacular although their portion size was a little too much. Not only did I get a massive piece of veal but I also had a side of pesto linguine which was a meal in itself. Both entrees were fantastic. I think if we go back I wouldn't hesitate to order it again.

For dessert we the Chocolate Pot De Creme. The dessert goes for twelve bucks and quite frankly was only a couple of bites. On the entree they gave far to much food and on the dessert for to little. Although small the Chocolate Pot De Creme was delicious and was a nice way to close out a really nice dinner.
After dinner we did have some time to kill so we walked around Fashion Island and I got to sit in the Tesla Model X for the first time which was incredible. I'm still pretty sure if money was no object I'd go with the Model S but the X was compelling. After our walk we drove over to South Coast Repertory to see our third of four plays in our season pass, Office Hour.
