Recapping Our Anniversary Dinner at The Melting Pot
Jenn and I went back and forth on where we should go out to celebrate our first five years of marriage. We landed on The Melting Pot in Irvine. We've been there a couple of times before and more then the food the experience is always a blast. This would be the first time we've gone there without a Groupon and it didn't disappoint.
We started with a bottle of Greystone Merlot which was really great. We both went with the four-course menu starting with a bacon cheese for our appetizer. They give you various breads, fruits and vegetables to dip in and this might be my favorite part of the meal. After that we had salads (which Jenn refuses to touch) so I had two salads to chow down on.

For our main course we went with a surf and turf approach. Jenn got the Steak Lovers which was filet mignon, sirloin, and teriyaki steak. I got the seafood trio which was salmon, tuna, and shrimp. This was far better then the sampler platter we normally got. The only negative was the tuna which didn't taste fresh. And then came the best part of the meal, dessert.

At this point of the meal we were 2+ hours into the meal, a bottle of wine emptied, and feeling like we could fall asleep in our seats. But that didn't stop us from the gluttony of desert. We got the S'mores for our chocolate choice and it was incredible. They give you a ton of stuff to dip in it from fruits to different deserts to dip in. It was hard to stop but after polishing off half of the desert offerings we both threw in the towel.

It was an incredible dinner and more then anything its a fun experience. It's always nice to have those European length meals where you get into the restaurant when its still light outside and finish when its time to go to bed. I'm really glad we chose to go to The Melting Pot to begin the celebration of the best five years of my life.
