Asia Trip 2023 Day 0 - Tokyo Round 2
It’s been about six weeks since we returned from our South America journey to Brazil and Argentina and like any good trip it made us eager to travel again. We were fortunate enough to have another opportunity with Jenn having a work trip to Tokyo. When we found out about it we knew wanted to take advantage and build a trip around it and that’s exactly what we did. Jenn left for Tokyo on Saturday, June 3rd on Air Canada leaving from Laguardia, making a quick stop in Toronto before taking the nearly 14-hour flight to Tokyo. She arrived in on Sunday afternoon where she had room service and got ready for her week of meetings.
J&J Go South 2023 - Day 9 - We Have the Meats
After such a long day yesterday going to the Iguazu Falls, we made sure to turn the alarms off and sleep in. We didn’t sleep that late but lay in bed, surfed our phones, and let the morning come to us. Today marks the last day in Buenos Aires and the last day of our vacation. What better way to spend it than start planning the next trip, I’m looking at you Asia in June.
J&J Go South 2023 - Day 8 - Chasing Waterfalls
When we had originally planned our South America trip in 2020, Jenn made a massive point that she wanted to visit the Iguazu Falls. The falls border Brazil and Argentina and are considered one of the natural wonders of the world. When we decided to do South America in 2023 we weren’t sure where to put it in our itinerary. After a lot of research, we decided to do a day trip to the falls from Buenos Aires. Luxor and Kuala Lumpur were the only two other up-and-back day trips we’ve done in the past. To get it all in we woke up a little after 4 AM and were off to Ezeiza International Airport to catch our two-hour flight to the falls.
J&J Go South 2023 - Day 7 - Death & History
We woke up this morning at 7:30, a perfect time to wake up on vacation if you ask me. We only had one thing on the agenda for today, a 4-hour tour of the city. We like to book these half-day tours to get a sense of the city without having to spend an entire day touring.
J&J Go South 2023 - Day 6 - 20 Steps
Not every day of traveling is perfect and our start to day six of this trip wasn’t what I’d call “smooth.” We woke up fine and finished packing up and went to check out and meet our driver downstairs. After ten minutes of discussing our bill with the front desk (a few things looked off), we finally checked out and joined our driver to take us to the Rio airport.
J&J Go South 2023 - Day 5 - One to Go
Even after the minor setback yesterday I was going to do whatever it took to make sure we made today's tour happen. Fortunately, I didn’t have to do anything, I woke up feeling 95% better and by the time the alarm went off at 6:30 AM, we were both amped to get going. We met our tour guide, Alexandre, downstairs at our hotel a few minutes after 7 AM and were off. Our first (and only stop) today was to go to one of the seven wonders of the world, the Christ the Redeemer statue. A good portion of the reason for our visit to Rio was to see this statue and it was worth it all.
