Grand Adventure 2017 Day 14: Luxury Heat
Unlike past travel days, today we tried to use as a part travel day, part rest day. Because our flight wasn't until 3 PM this afternoon we didn't have anything to do all morning, and it was glorious. We laid in bed like it was a Saturday morning, surfed the internet on our phones and enjoyed the beautiful sunrise in Hanoi.
Grand Adventure 2017 Day 13: Hello Moto
Wow was yesterday a long but glorious day. After nearly eight hours of driving and five hours on a boat, we slept incredibly hard last night. I woke up before Jenn and snuck out to get a quick run in, in the beautiful gym here at the JW Marriott. One quick note on the gym. When you walk in its a cool 70 degrees but the treadmills are right up against the floor to ceiling glass which means its 10-degrees warmer on them making my run this morning a tad more difficult.
Grand Adventure 2017 Day 12: Ha-long Drive to Paradise
For each stop on the trip, there’s one tour or destination that we had in mind as a driving force for why we chose to go to that country. Today is that sort of day in Vietnam. One of the places both Jenn and I have always wanted to visit is Halong Bay. We booked a group tour (more on that in a bit) to take us from Hanoi to Halong Bay which is 186kms away or 111 miles from our hotel.
Grand Adventure 2017 Day 11: Irony at its Classiest
Today will be a short write up as its one of many transit days coming up. Unlike our flight into Hong Kong, today we didn’t have an early morning flight. Instead we woke up at a leisurely 7 AM on our own. I went for a run and Jenn got ready for the day. When I got back from my run I took and a shower and Jenn got our last Starbucks run in Hong Kong. It sure has been nice to have it around the corner from us.
Grand Adventure 2017 Day 10: The Big Tour
Most of the time Jenn and I like to try to slow it down on our last day in a city, but that just wasn't meant to be the case in Hong Kong. We originally booked todays tour to Lantau Island for two days back but we got word two weeks ago that the cable cars that operate on Lantau Island were down for maintenance. That left us with touring today, our final day in Hong Kong; and although not ideal was well worth the wait.
Grand Adventure 2017 Day 9: The Happiest Lines on Earth
Today was easily in my top five most anticipated days of the trip. Why you ask? Because we went to Disneyland Hong Kong. Jenn and I love Disneyland. We had an annual pass for three years back home and nearly three years ago to the day we went to Disneyland in Paris. We knew on this trip we had to go to Disneyland in either Hong Kong or Tokyo but given our schedule in Tokyo we elected to go with Hong Kong. Plus it gives us yet another reason to go back to Tokyo.
