Globe Trotting J's 2019 Trip Day 4: Habibi
We went to sleep last night basking in the golden glow of the pyramids and a great day exploring Cairo. Unfortunately that sleep was cut short with an early morning flight. Our alarms rang out a little before 4 AM and we were downstairs and in the lobby by 4:30 AM to have our driver take us back to Cairo International Airport for our full-day tour of Luxor. We got dropped off, went through security and grabbed a couple of coffees and waited in the business class lounge for our flight to Luxor. Our tour company was nice enough to upgrade our outgoing flight to a business class seat so we got to enjoy a little extra comfort on our hour flight to Luxor.

I’ll just cut to the point, today was as close to perfect as you could ever ask for. Today was our first big tour of the trip and was one that we all were so excited about. We woke up early this morning, around 5:30 AM and went down to breakfast a little after 6:30 AM. We knew it was going to be nearly eight hours of touring today so we wanted to make sure we got a good breakfast in. Instead of ordering it to the room, we went down to the tea room and a nice breakfast of omelettes, crepes, coffee and orange juice. We tried to load up as much as possible on what was an amazing breakfast. We came back to our room, got ready and headed back to the lobby to meet up with our tour guide Hepa from Egypt Tailor Made.

And like that we’re in our second day here in Cairo. After a late night that ran into this morning at the hotels bar we all came back and slept through the night. I think I was the first awake this morning at 9 AM and by 10 AM we were all up. We had breakfast brought up to the room which was a basket of pastries, orange juice, and coffee. Not the most nutritious breakfast, but the pastries were delicious and the coffee (albeit not great) hit the spot.

I’ve been fortunate enough to write from all over the world, but I cannot think of a more awe inspiring view then the one I’m currently viewing. We’re currently on the seventh floor of the Four Seasons Cairo Hotel First Residence with a huge array of windows leading to our balcony that looks out over Cairo and in the distance you can see the majestic outline of the pyramids. But we’re getting a little ahead of ourselves. Let’s start at the beginning.
