In our final day in Athens we took Elle to the National Garden where she walked around and made some friends at the playground. We finished our time with Athens with some good old fashion American barbecue at a Michelin guide restaurant near our hotel.

Today marks our first day in Athens, and our big excursion was to the Acropolis. Elle loved every second of it, but our favorite memory will always be her calling the people dressed up as Spartans, “Santa.”

As we wrap up our time in Zurich, we made our way to Athens this morning with yet another early flight. We were lucky to have Elle find a friend in the row behind us, and we enjoyed a stunning dinner overlooking the Acropolis.

After a week in Santorini it was so nice to come to the Sofitel at the Athens airport, put our stuff down and passed out. We easily got our best night of sleep last night in one of the comfiest beds I've ever slept in at a hotel. We woke up at around 8AM and started getting all of our stuff ready for our flight from Athens to Rome at 11AM.

It was a sad morning in room 31 at the Cavanes Oia Hotel and Suites as we packed up our stuff to end what was a tremendous week in Santorini. We both woke up a little after seven and immediately went to packing up and getting ready for our flight to Athens. After getting most everything packed we ordered breakfast and enjoyed our last few glimpses of our amazing view. 

Sometimes things happen for a reason. That was the thought that we all went to bed with knowing that our original plan had fallen apart. We received a note yesterday that our excursion which was to take us to the Athens City Center had been cancelled due to mechanical issues. Our original plan was to get dropped off, shop and eat. So we woke up this morning at around 9AM ordered some room service (cereal, fruit, pastries, and coffee) and got ready for the day.
