Recap of Our Night at Hotel Irvine
Last year while our house was up for sale (the second time) Jenn and I made reservations at Hotel Irvine to get away from the house while there were open houses and to get some good nights of sleep. The first night at Hotel Irvine was perfect, we had a great time and a great nights sleep. The second night was terrible, there were weddings and parties happening throughout the hotel. We complained and received a voucher for a free night at their hotel along with a gift certificate to their restaurant for dinner and breakfast.
We arrived at Hotel Irvine on a Friday afternoon after work and checked in. Before checking in however we received an e-mail a few days before our stay asking if there was anything they could do to make our stay better, a nice touch, and more on that later. We got a corner room on one of the highest floors. When we arrived in the room we were greeted with a plate full of macaroons and a welcome letter. After taking a quick welcome video we made our way down to the hotels bar where Jenn got a drink (cosmo) before making our way to dinner.
For dinner we ate at the hotels restaurant, Eats Kitchen and Bar. As we say in the room tour video, we had $75 to spend on dinner so we went all out. We started out with two glasses of red wine and the potato and chorizo tacos. For an appetizer these were a lot of food, but incredible. It ends up being the best part of our meal. For our main course Jenn went with the shrimp and grits while I had the butcher steak. Neither of us were really thrilled with the main courses. Neither were bad per say but they weren't nearly as good as the appetizer.
After dinner we took a walk, ate some macaroons and called it a night. The next morning we made our way back down to Eats Kitchen and Bar for a free breakfast. Jenn got the brioche french toast with an orange juice and I had the crab omelette with a cappuccino. Breakfast was around the same as dinner, it was good but not great. Eats Kitchen and Bar was the epitome of a hotel eatery.
We had a great stay at Hotel Irvine, and are really glad to have enjoyed a stay in better circumstances a year after selling the house. After check-out we made our way to San Diego to celebrate Ally graduating with her Masters degree from Cal Baptist University (CBU).
