Caribbean Trip 2013 Day 3 (March 31, 2013): ‘Mass’ive Sun

Today started the first full day on the cruise. We woke up this morning to our room service at around 9AM. For breakfast Jenn got Belgian waffles and a banana smoothie and I had a ham and cheese omelet with a berry smoothie. This was another perk of the Aqua Class stateroom was having an expanded breakfast menu for room service and we took advantage of it.

After breakfast it was off to Jenn’s favorite place the Aqua Spa where we have free access to both the relaxation room and the Persian gardens. We chose to go with the Persian Gardens where we then got to lay on these heated seats and enjoy quite a few different steam rooms. The place was packed but we found two spots with great window views and enjoyed the relaxation time.

After an hour or so in the Aqua Spa we made our way up to the 15th deck to get some sun. When we got up there, the wind was howling pretty hard but we managed to find a great spot and both sat down and read for two hours. After the sun got a little to overbearing we headed back in to have lunch in the main dining room. Jenn started off with the potato soup while I had the cheese mozzarella sticks. Jenn had skirt steak while I had a cobb salad. We both finished off our lunch with some ice cream.

After lunch we hadn’t taken enough of a sun beating the first time out we went back up to the 15th deck and laid out again. This time was a little less windy and the sun seemed quite a bit hotter. Jenn was smart and put on sun screen and kept pretty covered up, while I did not and am typing this looking like a lobster. We stayed out there for another hour or so and came back in.

At that point I knew I was fried so I lay around our cabin watching ESPN while Jenn went off to get more time in the spa. She got back at around 4:30 and it was time to get ready for our first of two formal nights aboard the Celebrity Reflection. If you don’t know already Jenn goes all out for these formal occasions and she looked as beautiful as ever tonight. She wore here beautiful brown sequence dress that she wore back on the 2008 Europe Cruise and it looked stunning. She was a head turner all night. We took some obligatory pictures at a few different spots around the ship and headed off to Blu for dinner.

With formal nights also comes the better dinner menu’s. For the first time ever Jenn and I got literally the exact same thing for our first three courses. We started off with the scallops and then had some amazing crab bisque. For our main entrée we had the lamb, which was out of this world. It had an amazing pistachio crust and was super tender. To accompany this amazing meal we had our first of three bottles of wine in the premium package a French Pinot Noir. It was one of the best wines we have had in a while. For desert Jenn got another crème brule and I had the strawberry jubilee.

After dinner we came back up to the room and as we envisioned when we booked the cruise we sat up on the balcony and enjoyed a nice cool evening. Without expecting much we went down to the 8:30 showing of Center Stage. Now granted most of these shows are bad, but this might have been the worst. They did popular songs from plays like Wicked, Wizard of Oz, In the Heights, and Phantom of the Opera and butchered them pretty bad. We made it through most of the show and ended up leaving before it ended.

After we walked around the ship a bit, watched the end of Forrest Gump on TV and hit the sack. You have to love days like today where you don’t have to do much but still have an incredible day.
