Europe Trip 2008 Day #9: A Day on the Sea

Today was the first official “day” at sea and boy did this boat rock me to sleep. Either that or the “non drowsy” dramamine sure had un-specified kick to it. I tend to think it was a combination of both. Jenn and I passed out last night at what had to be around 8:00 PM(right after dinner) and woke up at 7:00 AM, had room service for breakfast and fell back asleep until lunch at 12:30 PM. From my experience the pacing of days at sea can either be filled with events or filled with sleep, and I tend to gravitate to the latter of the two. After we woke up for the second time we were off to lunch.

Some of the highlights of the day was the experience of playing miniature golf on top of the cruise ship. Jenn and I played with her Dad in a round and although the course is rather small in size, the ships movement make up for the challenge. I never got the swing of it, but Jenn and her dad played a rather solid round of golf. Jenn and her parents went to play bingo later in the afternoon and I chose to take my second nap of the day and fall asleep watching the second National Treasure movie.

The biggest part of the day came in the form of the formal dinner which Jenn wore her beautiful Jessica McClintock dress I bought her a few years back, and I wore my recently lost but now found Italian Suit from my last trip to Rome. We took more then enough pictures this evening, and that is why pictures here on this post will be rather limited. The dinner menu was superb tonight, it will probably rank as my favorite through the trip with Escargot, Shrimp Cocktail, and Filet of Beef all of which I had, and all of which were fantastic. The escargot and shrimp cocktail were so good I had seconds when we got to the room.

The day was concluded with a show, featuring Tenors Unlimited, a singing trio that put on a good performance. From what I remember of my first Royal Caribbean cruise, the entertainment is much better then what is found on Holland America, and tonight's performance was actually pretty good. It isn’t necessarily my forte of show, but it was enjoyable nonetheless. Tomorrow is where things start getting interesting again, we make our first port of call Mykonos, Greece. We are taking a journey to Ancient Delos first on a 3 1/2 hour excursion and hoping to go back into the town of Mykonos afterwards for dinner. It is our first day in Greece and should be an exciting one. Until then, we will see you in Greece.
