A Look Back - May 2017
Last month I decided to start making "monthly updates". Instead of trying to post a couple of posts a week, I would combine a lot of it into one monthly recap. I enjoyed writing about April so much that I've been staring at the calendar actually looking forward to the end of May just so I could write about it. So with no more preamble let's look back on our amazing month.
Summer Movie's I'm Looking Forward To - 2017 Edition
We now live in walking distance to two movie theaters so we have no excuse not to see movies when they come out. Although my list for Summer 2017 is light, there are some real stand out movies that I cannot wait to see over the summer, that is if I can drag Jenn along to see them with me.
A Look Back - April 2017
2017 has been off to an intense beginning. The year began with Jenn accepting a new job and April 1st was only the second day in our new Newport Beach apartment. We've had a lot going on. We started off April dropping off our keys at our old the high rise apartment and fully moving into the new one. I will say we made more trips to West Elm (in South Coast Plaza) in the last month then we did the entire time we lived in Santa Ana. In a future post I will write about our apartment and take pictures of the final product, but I will say as of this writing the place is stunning. Jenn has truly outdone herself with our new places decor.
Oscars 2017: Joel Takes A Close Victory
Like we've done for at least the last ten years, Jenn and I had our annual Oscar party where we print out a ballot and gather around the TV for four hours to watch The Academy Awards. This year we decided to cook spaghetti and meat sauce with fresh bread to dip in oil and vinegar. Jenn was just about to start her second week off of work (more on that in a future post) and decided to take up the mantle of cooking. I taught her my go-to pasta recipe and we cooked together right as the award ceremony began.
Three Book Recommendations for President Trump
I vomit a little in my mouth even typing the words President Trump, but today was the day, the day in which he took office and we said goodbye to easily the best President of my lifetime, Barack Obama. And yet as the page turns on President Obama, I've been reflecting a lot on today, Trump's horrific downtrodden speech, and what the next four years look like. And although I know Trump isn't a reader, these are three books that I think could arguably help deter him from making a mockery of his title over the next four years.
My Personal Goals for 2017
Last year was the first time I had ever posted my goals for the year. I know there’s a lot of cynics when it comes to New Year’s resolutions, but I see these more as guiding goals for the year rather than wanting to change myself. In 2017 I want to continue focusing on a lot of the same areas that I did in 2016, but continue to push myself to improve in all facets in my life.
