Election 2016: Completely and Utterly Devastated
The clock reads 11:40PM and I just saw a tweet from the Associated Press that they’ve awarded the election to Donald J Trump. It’s a sentence that I have a hard time trying to fathom. When I got home from work a little after 4:30PM the first state results were coming in and everything just felt slightly closer then polls were suggesting pre-election. I spent so much of the last three weeks reading websites like 538, New York Times, Slate, Politico, and the like. All polls and signs pointed to a Clinton landslide, if not that then a solid victory. Nothing could prepare me though for the devastation of learning that Donald Trump will be our next President.
Why Jenn and I Are #WithHer
For anyone that knows me, you know that I am strongly on the side of Hillary Clinton in this election. As I sit here writing this post, we are only a few days away from the election. It's hard for me to even contemplate that there's still a potential for a President Trump. As I write this my entire stomach is clenched in anticipation and fear of what Tuesday's election will bring.
TV Review: Silicon Valley Season 3
It's probably no surprise to any one that knows me that I love HBO's Silicon Valley. I'm someone that will sit down and watch not only Apple but Google, Microsoft and Tesla press conferences when they announce new products. I love watching tech moguls like Tim Cook, Elon Musk and the like do interviews and learn more about their roads to where they are now. But what I love even more about the tech industry now is that every day there's a new app or piece of hardware that may change the world. In a nutshell Silicon Valley is a comedic look at the amazing, weird, and often nonsensical world of tech.
TV Review: Veep Season 5
The best part of Jenn and my TV watching year is between the months of April and June. Those are the months where HBO for the last couple of years has had four of our favorite shows all happening in one night. Those shows include Game of Thrones, Silicon Valley, Last Week Tonight and Veep. I've written about all of those shows before except for Veep. Although it usually is mentioned in our favorite things of each year I've yet to actually write about a season.
TV Review: Game of Thrones Season 6
For the past five years Game of Thrones has been the pinnacle of television. That's saying something as this is considered the golden age of television. There are so many great choices on services like Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime that its a little surprising that HBO has been able to keep its level so high with shows like Game of Thrones. The sixth season of one of Jenn and my favorite shows just wrapped up and I would argue its better then ever.
A Little Joy in a Rough Couple of Weeks
I cannot believe I even get to write this post. I didn't think I would ever see the likes of Stephen Colbert (playing Stephen Colbert) or Jon Stewart on the airwaves again. Yes, Stephen Colbert took over for Letterman, but his character formed on The Daily Show and made into its own show on The Colbert Report has been retired since December 2014. That was until last night, when Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart teamed up again on the first night of the Republican National Convention (RNC).
