Movie Review: Jurassic World
Nostalgia is one of the most powerful emotions. There are countless things to be nostalgic about. The city you grow up in. The music you listened to in your youth. The clothes you wore or the movies you watched. Recently Jenn and I went to Disneyland and saw Jurassic World the fourth movie in the Jurassic Park franchise. And although I didn't expect it, it was a really great trip down memory lane.
Honest Trailers - A Tale of Our Friday Night
At church this past weekend one of the youth pastors made a joke about starting a show on Netflix and then realizing a couple of hours had past let alone a whole day. We've definitely done that with shows like Lost, House of Cards, and Orange is the New Black. On a recent Friday night Jenn and I were watching some trailers on YouTube and a couple of hours later we finished watched our 30th "Honest Trailer".
A Beautiful Sunday at the Temecula Vineyards
Every year for Amy's birthday, Jenn and Ally join her to go to the Temecula wine country for a few days of R&R. Well I never get invited to that and always feel like I'm missing out. So this past weekend I invited myself along with Jenn (who's always invited) Jake and Amy while Ally was in Cancun. We met Jake and Amy down in Temecula after going to the 9AM service of church at Mariners over this past Memorial Day weekend.
TV Review: Mad Men Season 7 Part 2 + Overall Show Thoughts
It's hard to imagine a world without Don Draper in it. For the last eight years I've loved almost every second of watching AMC's hit show Mad Men. Jon Hamm starred as the lead character Don Draper an advertising genius who's life was anything but what he portrayed it to be. In fact a lot of what the last season of Mad Men explored was the unravelling of Don and everything he built up around him.
I'm an Apple Fanboy - Apple Watch Sport Edition
Hello my name is Joel and I'm an Apple Fanboy. There I said it. Now it's out there. Not that anyone who knows me or read this blog doesn't already know that. But it feels good to say it. More then any other Apple purchase I've ever made, the Apple Watch felt like a purchase only the fanboy side of me would allow to happen. Do I really need a smart watch? No. Do I like having an Apple Watch? Absolutely.
Goodbye Honda Fit and Hello to my New 2015 Toyota Prius
In 2007 I purchased a Black Toyota Prius. At the time I was going to be driving to UCI from Riverside and I loved how forward thinking Toyota was with its Hybrid. Plus you couldn't beat nearly 50 MPG. Five years later I was working full time and I had put nearly 150K miles on it and the front dashboard had completely gone out. Money was tight so I went and purchased a 2012 Honda Fit. One of the worst car decisions I ever made. It's not that it was a bad car it was just as basic and dull as they come.
