Movie Review: Where to Invade Next

Jenn and I are trying to become more informed both in politics and the world around us. We have a desire to watch more documentaries. After hearing amazing things about Where to Invade Next we decided to give it a go. I want to clear the elephant in the room, yes, Where to Invade Next is a Michael Moore film. Don't stop reading though. This is not as much a pushing of a liberal agenda, but instead an eye opening look into places outside of America. The premise is simple. What can we steal from other countries around the world to make America better then it already is. Seems like a great idea to me. If you find this idea, to learn from other countries to be "liberal" then I don't know what to tell you.

Movie Review: The Martian

Easily one of my most anticipated movies of the year was The Martian. It's a book I fell in love with in early 2014 and at the end of the year named it my favorite book of the year. It was an incredible tale of a man stranded on Mars who had to use every piece of knowledge and fortitude to survive. It was easily one of the best books I've ever read and a movie adaptation seemed like it had to be the potential to be a true classic.

Movie Review: Creed

If you don't know this already, I absolutely love the Rocky franchise. I've been wanting to make a list of my favorite movies of all time for a while but I know for sure #1 on that list would be Rocky II. What can I say I like when he wins (sorry for the Rocky II spoiler). When Rocky made his way back in the ring 15 years after Rocky V, in Rocky Balboa he made a triumphant return. In fact Rocky Balboa is my second favorite movie of the series (yes I've ranked them 1-6).  Now Rocky is back but not in his own movie, he's back to train Apollo Creed's son in Creed.

Movie Review: Trainwreck

This past Friday (November 13th) was the day in which the terrorist attacks happened in Paris. Over 150 people lost their lives, over 300 injured, and thousands will never be the same again. I came home from work feeling down as did Jenn. Paris feels like home to both of us. It's a place that one day I hope Jenn and I can retire too. After reflecting on the day, the horrific events in Paris, I just wanted to get away. To get lost in a movie. So we rented Trainwreck one of the highest rated comedies of the year.

Movie Review: Minions

I think Jenn and I were over optimistic going in to see Minions. After the great Pixar movie Inside Out I think we were giving the kids movie genre a little more credit then we should. Lets face it, the people at Pixar are brilliant. Sadly Minions was anything but great. Lets backtrack just a bit. Minions were the sidekicks in the Despicable Me movies. The comedy arm of those movies. Taking those characters into their own feature film seems risky but all of the trailers leading up to this movie made it feel like it might be great.

Movie Review: Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation

Going into this review you should know two things about my opinions on Tom Cruise movies. First, I love The Last Samurai. Second I'm not a big fan of the Mission: Impossible movies. I might be one of the few that feels that way and it might tell you to exit out of this review right now. But if there's one thing I pride myself with on this blog its speaking my version of the truth. So there you have it. And yet Jenn somehow convinced me to go see the latest Mission: Impossible movie, Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation.
