2016: My Year in Numbers

I began last year tracking a lot of my daily activity to help get in better shape. Among the things I've begun tracking on a daily basis are steps, weight, sleep, and workouts. I also have a daily to-do list using the app Productive to make sure I do the basics (take vitamins, wash my face, brush my teeth and floss twice a day, etc.). It's not something that works for everyone but for me its a way to stay accountable to where I want to be in my life and I can't tell you how proud of all these stats in 2016.

STEPS

This is my first full year of wearing the Apple Watch. In 2015 I didn't get the watch until at least a couple of months in so the step counts and many of these stats were a little off. However, this year with all this data its pretty interesting to see how much activity I've been doing, especially when it comes to step counts.

Total Steps Taken in 2016: 4,421,471

Average Steps Taken Per Day: 12,080

RUNNING

I began running over the summer of 2015 with the app couch to 5K. It was my entry into taking better care of myself and changed my mind from hating running to not necessarily loving to run but enjoying it more times then not. As someone who works in an office in a cubicle the ability to go for a run every morning before work is not only good to get some physical activity in but it also helped a lot with stress relief. As the year progressed I continued to up my speed and distance and will hope to continue to into 2017.

I ran a total of 893 miles in 2016

SLEEP

I've been tracking my sleep for a number of years now its a helpful way to keep track of and ensure that nothing is getting out of whack. If you know me you know that I am a creature of habit and I've found that I am at my best with at least seven and a half hours of sleep, preferably going to sleep by 10-10:30 PM.

WEIGHT

During the summer of 2015 I began to take my health more seriously. I took a serious look at my weight and realized that being almost 160lbs wasn't healthy and I wasn't happy with how I was feeling. I started using an app called Couch to 5K and began running, and soon I began running every day and weight started magically disappearing. I got to my goal weight of 135 at the end of 2015 and as this graph shows I maintained my weight of 133-135 for the entire year of 2016 which I'm insanely proud of.

READING

As I talked about in a post a couple of days ago, I completed my goal for reading 28 books in 2016. Although I read more books in 2016 you might notice that statistically I read slightly less in 2016 then I did in 2015.

Total Page Count = 9089 or roughly 750 pages a month.

Total Audiobook Listening = 307 hours (28 books). Roughly 26 hours a month.
