Loving Last Week Tonight

Last summer John Oliver took the reigns for Jon Stewart on The Daily Show, while Jon went away and filmed a movie. I guess HBO was watching because Oliver really did a phenomenal job and as such was offered a weekend gig on HBO. John Oliver's new show, called Last Week Tonight launched a few weeks back and so far Jenn and I are hooked.

Instead of just reporting on the news Oliver has been both cracking jokes and bringing a lot of perspective to stories. One of my favorites was his recent take on capital punishment. I always go back and forth on my views on the issue but I do appreciate his approach. Not to mention ending the segment with a hamster eating a tiny burrito is ingenious.

I'm sure he won't be for everyone, but Jenn and I became huge fans of his last summer and are now devoted fans of his new show.
