Movie Review: Captain America: The Winter Soldier

With Jenn taking this week off to rest and get ready for the new job, I was able to get some time off as well. We spent a lot of the time just relaxing in our apartment, eating good food, and drinking great wine. We did however make some time to go see the first of my most anticipated movies of summer 2014, Captain America: The Winter Solider.

The first Captain America movie (Captain America: The First Avenger) released in 2011 was good but a little cheesy. I never read any of the comics growing up and yet I still had an affinity to the character. That alone probably made me still enjoy the first movie. However the good news is The Winter Soldier is almost nothing like the first movie. This is Bourne Identity meets Marvel movie, in what is honestly the best comic book hero movie I've seen since The Dark Knight.

The Winter Soldier is an action movie from start to finish. There is a ton of hand to hand combat in the movie that had our theater gasping for air on more then one occasion. Even though the movie was just north of two hours I don't think it dragged at all (Jenn might disagree). This is definitely a movie I could see myself watching again when its released, and makes me even more excited for the next Avengers movie.
