Movie Review: Interstellar

I'm a big fan of Christopher Nolan's movies. I loved his entire Dark Knight trilogy and really enjoyed Inception. When I first saw the trailers for Interstellar I knew I was on board. So a couple weeks back not only did Jenn and I go see Interstellar but we decided for the first time in both of our lives to go see it in IMAX.

We headed to Irvine Spectrum and picked up our tickets for a $20 matinee and headed into the gigantic screen that is an IMAX screen. For the first ten to fifteen minutes the bass in the theater was completely obliterating my ears. After that the sound seemed to level out and we were in for three hours of amazing space exploration. I won't beat around the bush I absolutely fell in love with Interstellar from the moment Matthew McConaughey lifted off into space. Those were some of the most gorgeous space scenes I've ever seen and I was drooling. Its the type of movie you want to watch to show off a new TV.

There really wasn't a bad performance in the whole movie. Whether it be Anne Hathaway, Michael Caine (who's always great), John Lithgow or Jessica Chastain everyone was brilliant. A minor spoiler is that 2 hours into the movie, Matt Damon makes a brief yet impressive performance. My only real gripe with the movie was its length. 3 hours is a long time, and although I was entertained from start to finish I couldn't help but feel fatigued after it was all said and done.

I loved Interstellar. It starts out a little slow Its one of those movies that a) I can't wait to purchase and b) you have to try and figure out what the heck just happened. If there is an Interstellar 2 count me in.
