French Open Trip 2018 Day 4: We Should Have Never Left

The time has come for us to pack our bags and jump on a train. Before falling asleep last night both Jenn and I packed up most of our suitcases to get us ready for a 9:30 AM direct train from Geneva to Paris. We woke up a little before 8 AM, finished packing and headed out to the train station. The taxi ride to the station took all but five minutes and a few minutes later we were at our train stop with Starbucks in hand waiting for our train.

The train from Geneva to Paris was uneventful in the best possible way. We splurged for first class seats and it was worth every penny. We stretched out, enjoyed the beautiful Swiss countryside, and for at least half the trip we fell asleep letting the light rumble of the high-speed train drift us back to sleep. By the time we rolled into Paris at a few minutes before noon, we were well rested and ready to be back in one of our favorite cities in the world.

We arrived in Paris with beautiful sunny weather and that sense of "awe" that the city has brought us each time we visited. We grabbed a Taxi after not being able to find where Uber ride pick up to take us back to the hotel we've stayed at the last two times we've been in Paris, the Hyatt Paris Madeleine. We checked in to a smaller room then we've had the last two trips and Jenn called down and had us moved to the same room we've had only two doors down. For Paris its a pretty big room with a living room setup plus a bed which is really nice. The room also has beautiful views of the Parisian street the hotel sits on. After checking in, unpacking, and recording a room tour we headed back out to explore Paris. Although this is called the "French Open Trip" we don't actually make our way to Roland Garros until tomorrow.

Today we decided to keep things light, enjoy just walking the streets of Paris. We made our way towards the Louvre, enjoyed a couple of parks nearby and just walked a perfect day in Paris. After taking a ton of photos (most of which we've probably taken before) we stumbled on a cafe we ate at last time and decided to go in for a late lunch early dinner. Jenn had a glass of red wine and the duck confit, and I had the steak frites. Both were incredible, perfectly cooked, and just the right amount of seasoning. And just like two years ago I devoured the bread with mustard a combination that I only seem to get in Paris.

After lunch, we walked around some more, did some light window shopping, and just explored Paris like we like to do, by just wandering. After an hour or two we made our way back to our hotel to enjoy our beautiful room, unpacked and got ready for three full days in Paris. Tomorrow I get to check another tennis grand slam off my bucket list. See you then Roland Garros.
