Oscars 2017: Joel Takes A Close Victory

Like we've done for at least the last ten years, Jenn and I had our annual Oscar party where we print out a ballot and gather around the TV for four hours to watch The Academy Awards. This year we decided to cook spaghetti and meat sauce with fresh bread to dip in oil and vinegar. Jenn was just about to start her second week off of work (more on that in a future post) and decided to take up the mantle of cooking. I taught her my go-to pasta recipe and we cooked together right as the award ceremony began.

12 Nights of Christmas Movies - 2016 Edition

Welcome to our second annual 12 Christmas Movies post. We tried for many years to watch a dozen Christmas movies during the holidays but failed a couple of times before suceeding last year. In fact I was reading my post last year and found one glaring error, I called it 12 Days of Christmas Movies when in actuality it was really the 12 Nights of Christmas Movies. That has been corrected in 2016 and with it an updated batch of Christmas movies. Many have remained the same from last year with a few exceptions.

Movie Review: Where to Invade Next

Jenn and I are trying to become more informed both in politics and the world around us. We have a desire to watch more documentaries. After hearing amazing things about Where to Invade Next we decided to give it a go. I want to clear the elephant in the room, yes, Where to Invade Next is a Michael Moore film. What can we steal from other countries around the world to make America better then it already is. Seems like a great idea to me. If you find this idea, to learn from other countries to be "liberal" then I don't know what to tell you.

Movie Review: Captain America: Civil War

Let me just start by saying I'm 100% #TeamCap. If you don't know what the means you probably aren't going to be all that interested in this review. For me though Captain America has been the pinnacle of the Marvel cinematic universe (MCU). His movies (especially Captain America: Winter Soldier) are my favorite of the series, and I usually am rooting for him in The Avengers movies.

Movie Review: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

I usually try to write reviews for movies/TV shows pretty quickly after consuming them. I'd rather write down my initial thoughts and not let them be swayed one way or another. However, I didn't do that with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. It's been over two weeks since Jenn and I went to Big Newport Cinema in Newport Beach and sat in their giant new recliners in their RPX theater to take in this latest superhero movie.
