It feels good to finally be able to sit down and write again. The first three months of 2017 have been the least amount of blogging I've done in the last couple of years. There's been a ton of great things happening in our lives and one of which we went out to celebrate this past weekend, Jenn's new job. After three years at Taco Bell Corporate, Jenn decided to go on a taco cleanse (sarcasm) and move on to a new opportunity at ViaSat.
I've said this more times to her than I can count, but I couldn't be any prouder of her. I'm writing this post a couple of days after International Women's Day and I couldn't think of a woman who's leaned in harder then Jenn. She's an amazing example of someone who's breaking down barriers, working hard, doing it the right way and being rewarded for it. She's been my inspiration since I met her thirteen years ago and continues to drive me and our family to be the best we can possibly be. To celebrate her incredible achievements we've gone out and celebrated more times than any other promotion/new job, and for good reason. However, the last celebration before Jenn started her new job was to Hamamori Restaurant and Sushi Bar where we feasted.
When we arrived at Hamamori we got a table inside the restaurant with a great view of South Coast Plaza. We just happened to get there for happy hour (unplanned) and got two glasses of red wine along with edamame and crispy calamari. Both were great. We especially loved the seasoning used on the edamame that gave it a really nice spicy flavor.
Our next round of food was sushi, where we had an order of spicy tuna rolls and their assorted sushi plate. I couldn't even begin to describe all of the different sushi from memory (and sadly their menu isn't online) but I can say that we literally cleaned the entire plate. There were a couple of rolls that looked like they might not be our favorite but there wasn't one roll we didn't devour and love.
For our final course, we got the miso marinated lamb chops. One of Jenn's favorite meals is lamb, so this last course was a real treat. The lamb was perfectly cooked and bursting with amazing flavor. We were so incredibly stuffed by the time we left that we ended up skipping dessert, something we don't normally do.
Luckily we had a play that night, A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder. We drove over from South Coast Plaza to Segerstrom and took in a show after what turned out to be an outstanding meal and a great final celebration for Jenn's new job.
