My Personal Goals for 2019

I’ve been doing goals or new years resolutions for most of my adult life. I started publishing my big goals for the year back in 2015. I’m not always perfect but its a good way for me to be accountable for what I want to accomplish for the year ahead. I’ve had my list of 2019 goals written down since October of 2018, but was late in getting them on the blog. I’ve made my goals far more straightforward this year. Five goals, no sub-goals and I plan to hit all five. Let’s go through them.

Goal #1: Read 33 Books in 2019

That’s one book more than in 2018, and that’s 13 more then my first ever target of 20 books in 2012 (my first year on GoodReads). In my mind at the end of 2019 I’d love to see that I read a diverse set of fiction and non-fiction and went for some more lengthy reads.

Goal #2: Run 300 Times in 2019

I’ve decided that I don’t care how far I run, just that I get out there and do it. I found myself trying to run more on days to make up for other days. Instead I’d love at the end of 2019 that I’d average about 2.5 miles a run and that I’ve run far over 300 times. That will mean I have to do a better job in 2019 of running on our vacations.

Goal #3: Keep Weight Under 140

I haven’t been over 140 pounds in over three years when I was at my highest weight of 162-165 pounds. I look back on photos prior to me paying attention to my weight I still can’t believe that I was so oblivious. Achieving this goal will not only mean watching my diet and running but it will also mean just taking good care of myself day in and day out.

Goal #4: Eat a Total of 12 Michelin Star Restaurants

When I look back on some of my favorite memories of the past couple of years its been going on adventures with Jenn, often times that includes incredible meals. We now live in the best food city in the world so my goal for the year is to eat at 12 different Michelin Star restaurants. This might fly in the face of goals two and three but I’ll just have to make sure I run extra those twelve days.

Goal #5: Write Up 12 Monthly Recaps in 2019

One of the best things I did on my blog in 2018 was start the month in reviews. They’re like my year-in-review but for the month and I find them cathartic and fun to read back on. It also makes doing the year-in-reviews much easier. Last year I missed a couple of months when things got hectic with the move, so my goal for 2019 is to write all twelve of them.
