My Top 5 Games of 2017

2017 may go down as one of the best years of video games ever. It seemed like every single month another huge game was released making this one of the hardest years to put together my top five games. I also worked more hours in my day job then I've ever done in my life making it even harder to play all of these great games. But I was able to play enough to make me feel reasonably confident that these are my favorite five games from 2017.

If you want to read the full rundown of my list and read some of my full descriptions on these games, head on over to Darkstation where I and the 20 on staff put up our Top 5 lists.

5. NBA 2K18

4. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

3. Super Mario Odyssey

2. Assassin's Creed Origins

1. Horizon Zero Dawn

I reviewed Horizon: Zero Dawn and I was wrong. I scored it a 4/5 and I was wrong. I replayed the game over the summer of 2017 after blitzing the game in a week to review it and on my second playthrough, I realized that I had missed it in my first take on the game. I've been reviewing games for a long time (over fifteen years) and I don't often disagree with reviews I've written. But after spending nearly 50 hours with the game in a second playthrough I fell in love with Horizon: Zero Dawn in a way I just didn't connect with it at first.
