This is one of those rare years where I truly struggled to come up with five games that I felt truly deserved to make a "top five games" of a year list. On most years a lot of these games wouldn't have necessarily made my list (outside of my first pick). With that being said I will remember video games in 2016 not necessarily for the games that were released but for the games that were promised in future years. I'm looking at you Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, The Last of Us Part 2, and Red Dead Redemption 2.
My top five list with more detailed descriptions of each pick have been posted over on Darkstation, but as my annual tradition I at least like to memorialize the five games I had the most fun with in 2016.
4. Watch Dogs 2
3. FIFA 17
2. NBA 2K17
1. Uncharted 4: A Thief's End
The only real sure fire winner for me in 2016 was the brilliant game by developer Naughty Dog, Uncharted 4: A Thief's End. It's one of those rare games that manages to finish a franchise with grace and style. I enjoyed the nearly twenty hour campaign to an insane degree and it is one that I cannot wait to go back and play in 2017.
