Even though we don't live in Fashion Island anymore we still try to go back as much as possible. It still feels like home. Jenn found a new hair stylist at Fashion Island before our recent trip and so I met her after her most recent hair appointment for dinner at a new burger place called Hopdoddy.
While Jenn was finishing up her hair I put our name down to get a table and they took my phone number and would text me when the table was ready. It's not the first place I've been to that's done that but they used an app called NoWait which told us where we were in the queue and alerted us when our table was ready. It was a really neat app and made walking around the mall much less stressful then if we would have had to wait with a buzzer.
We got a nice outdoor spot where we could people watch and enjoy our dinner. I started off with an Anaheim Brewery Heff which was one of my favorite beers I've ever had, and Jenn had a great glass of red wine. We started off with their signature fries, the truffle fries. The best part was the different sauces they had for the fries which included their own homemade ketchup, ranch, and chipotle sauce. I had to do a little convincing to get Jenn to split them with me but we both enjoyed them quite a bit. For our main entree Jenn went with a plain hamburger (nothing new there) and I had their Greek burger which was a lamb pattie with feta cheese and a tzatziki sauce.
Both burgers were really good. I'm not sure they were on the same level of The Counter but they were absolutely close. What I liked about Hopdoddy was both its location and its very relaxed vibe. It was just a nice place to get a burger and a drink and enjoy the beautiful surrounding. All the food was top notch and I know if we still lived in Fashion Island it would be our new favorite Friday night dinner spot replacing Yard House as our old go-to. We finished the night doing our old walk and enjoying two macaroons at Lette.
