This weekend was the weekend of movies. On Saturday Jenn and I went to the Big Newport theaters with her dad and Joan to go see the movie Hercules. If it was my choice we wouldn't have gone to see it and would have waited to rent it for a buck on Redbox but surprisingly Jenn really wanted to go see it.
Surprisingly Hercules starring The Rock (Dwayne Johnson) was actually a pretty decent action movie. Sure it had almost no plot to speak of. And sure the action started after less then a couple of minutes of story. But it was still a pretty enjoyable popcorn summer movie.
I know little to nothing about the source material, which is the comic Hercules: The Thracian Wars by Steve Moore. But I'd imagine the comics had a little more build up then the movie. I just wish we could have learned more about the genesis of Hercules, but this just wasn't that type of movie. It was good but probably still better as a rental. A good movie but easily forgettable.
