Dinner Review: Oak Grill

A couple of years ago it felt like Jenn and I were going to restaurants with Groupon's or Travelzoo's every weekend. That's tailed off tremendously as fewer restaurants have offered up these deals. A couple of weeks ago I stumbled upon a deal to go to Oak Grill at the Island Hotel only a couple of steps away from our new apartment, so we of course obliged.

The deal was my favorite type of deal, it was $40 and you got $70 to spend on whatever you wanted plus two glasses of wine. These deals are great because you aren't forced into a set smaller menu. We walked over on an overcast Thursday evening and got a great seat on their patio. Jenn started with a glass of Merlot and I had a Cab.

We started with the Shaved Prosciutto & Fig Thin Crust Pizza. I had to first convince Jenn to go with something different (instead of going with our tried and true Calamari) and it was worth it. We both absolutely adored this. If we ever go back to Oak Grill I am absolutely getting another shareable thin crust pizza, it was divine.

Because Jenn didn't get her calamari she had to get her favorite thing in the world, a bolognese. What was unique about Oak Grill's bolognese was that it was paired with freshly made bucatini noodles, which were thick and delicious. I went with their rib eye which was paired with broccolini and delicious mashed potatoes. The rib eye was perfectly cooked and paired exquisitely with the glass of wine.

It was such a nice evening, with great wine, delicious food, and out of this world company. Last week we went to Spaghetti Bender on a Thursday night, and this past Thursday to Oak Grill. It's this end of the week reprieve that helps usher in the weekend. We should really make Thursday night, date night!
