Dinner Review: Posch (Irvine)

Not every restaurant coupon is created equally that is for sure. A few weeks ago Jenn and I went to use our TravelZoo to a restaurant called Posch in Irvine near John Wayne Airport. From the pictures and the description we knew it was half night club half restaurant but it looked neat enough to warrant the $49 price tag for a three course meal with wine.

We made reservations for 6:30PM on a Saturday which we figured with only a week or so left on the TravelZoo deal might be busy. Well that couldn't be further from the truth. The restaurant was a ghost town and we were the only people their besides the staff for our entire meal. The restaurant also has a fascination with 90's boy bands because the sound track was all N'Sync and Backstreet Boys for our entire dinner. Sort of a weird vibe for what appeared to be an upscale restaurant.

Needless to say we got a seat in the patio area, both got a glass of red wine and had a few appetizers to start. I started with the Grilled Shrimp Dijon and Jenn had the Skirt Steak Skewers. Both were fine but there was far more rice then there was appetizer which was disappointing. For our main entree I had the Honey Glazed Skirt Steak with Rice and Jenn had the Jimmy Z's Spaghetti Bolognaise supposedly a house special. Both entrees were small and pretty bland for the $20+ price tag.

For desert we ended up splitting a cheesecake which wasn't bad but didn't taste all that fresh either. The only compliment I could give the place was they had great coffee. I am sure it was just folders but whatever it was, was fresh and hit the spot.

I am not sure which is worse. The fact that we didn't see anyone come into the restaurant from 6:30-8:00PM or that this isn't the worst restaurant deal we have ever done. Either way we won't be returning to Posch.

We Give Posch the Szerlip Two Thumbs Down
