The story of Atlantis and whether or not it exists is something that I've only passingly thought about in my life. But over the last week, I read the novel Meet Me in Atlantis by Mark Adams which deep dives on several explorers in their quest to discover the lost city Atlantis. 

I found the book How to Stop Time by Matt Haig when I went in search of a new time travel book. Time travel may be my favorite genre, but also one that I've had a hard time in the last few years finding a new book to sink into. How to Stop Time isn't actually a time travel book but its close. The story revolves around the central character of Tom Hazard. Tom is 41 years old and lives in London. His body looks like a normal 41-year-old but actually, he just ages incredibly slowly (it takes 15 years for him to age 1 human year) so is instead actually over 400 years old. 

A month ago Jenn handed me a copy of Leaders Eat Last. She said at the end of the novel Simon Sinek asks the reader to pass the book on to other leaders. She was nice enough to pass it to me so over the last month I've been reading the book Leaders Eat Last. Just from the title, it's a book that spoke to me in a big way. And although I've never read a Simon Sinek book before I had heard great things. 

One of my favorite books of the last five years was A Man Called Ove. It was such a simple, beautiful tale that crafted a story about one old man set in his ways. I adored that book so much. The novel was written by Fredrick Backman, who also wrote this novel Beartown. The best way I could describe Beartown is as a more mature version of the NBC TV show Friday Night Lights. But instead of football, it's about hockey. And instead of being set in a small "football town" in Texas its set in a small "hockey town" in Sweden. 

There's a ton of love in the world for the novel A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles. It's won a ton of awards and continues to be on the best sellers list week after week. A Gentleman in Moscow is the story of Count Alexander Rostov in the early 1900's when he's put on house arrest at the Hotel Metropol in Moscow. There he has to figure out what his life looks like living in a hotel, never to be able to leave its walls again. 

I both love and hate Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki and His Years of Pilgrimage. This story had me on such a rollercoaster of emotions that I feel like I might burst by literally not knowing how to feel. The book opens up with Tsukuru Tazaki as a sophomore in college contemplating suicide. The first bit of this book is a dark and tragic look at a lonely young adult in the sprawling city of Tokyo just barely holding on to his life.
