I became a fan of Dan Pfeiffer back in the Keeping it 1600 podcast days. It was at a time that I and much of the US was terrified of the mere thought of a Drumpf presidency. When that disaster became a reality I stayed with the crew and have continued to enjoy all of their Crooked Media ventures. The concept of Yes We Still Can is great, what worked well in the Obama presidency that we can tap to get a Democrat elected in 2020. To spur along this discussion Dan brings his extensive political background and insider Obama stories from his six years in the White House.

I really, really enjoyed Dark Matter. It's a book that doesn't shy away from what in many books would be the downfall. How do you deal with an inherently difficult/complex/twisting scientific plot? Dark Matter opens up with Jason and his wife Daniela and his son Charlie. They're living a normal Chicago life. He's a professor, she teaches art, and their son is a normal teenager. And then the book takes us out of this seemingly quiet family home into one of the most intense and enjoyable thrillers I've read a long time.

Exit West started out as a book I thought I was going to absolutely love. I believe it made President Obama's favorite books of the year list when it was released and is one I've heard a lot of love for. When we meet Nadia and Saeed they are on different paths in their lives and its the turmoil in their home country (which I don't believe is ever named) that brings the two together. When they do finally flee we not only get to understand the life of a refugee but also two individuals with their own hopes and dreams and relational struggles. 

Although it took me longer then I thought, I finally finished Words of Radiance the second novel in The Stormlight Archive. I really enjoyed the first book Way of Kings but it had a really slow start. The same can not be said for Words of Radiance. It picks up right where the last book left off and then just hits the gas pedal for over 1,000 pages of amazing fantasy writing.

I've read Clive Cussler in the past. And although I remember little to nothing about that novel (The Wrecker) what I do remember is that it was a fun beach/summer read. When Spartan Gold was chosen for our book club (GamersRead) I was excited for a fun read as the weather turns from winter to spring. 

There's a game coming out in a couple of weeks called God of War. It's a game that for the first time is making the switch from a game about Greek mythology to Norse mythology. After reading Stardust, a novel I enjoyed quite a bit I thought a great prepper for God of War would be the latest book from Neil Gaiman, Norse Mythology.
