I used to be a huge Boy Meets World fan. Heck I think I liked the good old TGIF ABC nights a little to much. I even continued watching reruns of Boy Meets World years after it had ended. So one of my new favorite characters Chuck, on the show of the same name on NBC had a guest star Ben Savage who used to play Cory on Boy Meets World. This was like the ultimate Chuck episode for me. It was a great episode regardless of the guest star, but it was great to see good old Ben Savage back on the TV set. I don’t even know if they still do play Boy Meets World reruns. Now that was a great show.

Anyways if you missed this weeks episode of Chuck, go over to Hulu or buy it on iTunes it was a classic episode that if you were a fan of Boy Meets World its great to see Cory back on screen.

So Jenn and I went to see Body of Lies this evening, and I liked it, it wasn’t my favorite, but I enjoyed it. The previews were extremely solid though. Which gave me an idea, five movies I want to see in the 2 and 1/2 months left in the year. Can you believe 2008 is almost passing us by? Without further ado here are the 5 movies I can’t wait to see, and can you believe Daniel Craig is in 2 of them.

#5: Yes Man

Dumb and Dumber is one on my short list for favorite movies of all time. So when I saw the trailer for Yes Man (which looks a lot like Liar Liar) I was extremely excited. Its great to see Jim Carrey back on the comedy scene, and I can’t wait to see Yes Man as it looks really good.

#4 The Road

So there is no trailer yet for this movie, but I read the book. Well I should say I listened to the Audible Version of it and I loved it. Cormac McCarthy wrote the book also No Country for Old Men which I didn’t love as much. I really think The Road should be a great post appocolyptic movie and could tend to be on the intense side of things.

#3 Fireproof

Yes I know this movie has been out for a few weeks. I told Jenn about this a week before it went to theaters and how bad I wanted to see it. The showtimes have always been off, and its not playing in the many theaters so we haven’t gotten to it yet, but we still are going to. I love the fact that Christian movies are able to go main stream. Kirk Cameron is someone that I truly respect, I think the transformation he made from the teen star to a evangelical actor I think is fantastic. Watch the trailer, it will hook you whether your married, getting married, or none of the above.

#2 Quantum of Solace

What can I say, Casino Royale was an amazing film. I really think Daniel Craig nailed Bond, and I can’t wait to see him in Quantum of Solace. I was watching Leno the other night when he was on the show, and to hear him talk about how this is a real continuation of the last flick and how much it correlates it got me giddy excited in anticipation. There is nothing like a good heart pumping action movie, and I for one cannot wait to see this movie.

#1: Defiance

Like I mentioned on the onset, there are two movies I cannot wait to see this year from Daniel Craig, the second one being Defiance. I truly cannot wait for this movie. It just seems to me like a great WWII flick that tells a story I have never heard. I really think that this may be a surprise movie of 2008.The trailer since the first time I saw it really sold me on the movie and for that I cannot wait to go see it.

Notable Mentions: The Time Travelers Wife (Another Audible Read), Changeling, Australia, and The Brothers Bloom.

Every holiday season for the past five years I have been swamped. Managing Darkstation.com during these months can be some of the most trying and time consuming months of the year. Games are releasing at an alarming rate, the site itself has been doing extremely solid this year with the recent new design which means with more traffic there is more incentive and more reason to make sure to keep the audience coming back for more. We have grown quite a bit since I took over, thus the lack of posts here on the World of Joel.

More then anything I need to get on a more regular schedule with everything. My Darkstation work is more sporatic then it is consistent, and that is a big issue I am having. I want to make sure I continue to keep content flowing throughout the website, but there is a lot of stuff going on in the industry, a ton of huge releases and it can be extremely tough to keep up. So regardless keep an eye out on Darkstation.com it is doing really well and should have some of its best months of the year coming up!

Very seldomly on You Tube do I find something that I actually find worthwhile to watch. This video is different, it is very much worth watching. Jenn came home this evening and was like Joel, for once I have a video to make you watch. Yes I make her watch a lot of videos, includes video game videos. So yes she has every right to throw 100 horrible Youtube videos at me. But she didn’t, from her Management class she brought home a video I must have missed during its big arrival. The video is called Did You Know 2.0 and it is worth watching, that is for sure.

Last year many of you may remember that I created a slew of TV Blogs which I ended up selling during the writers strike. Selling them was a tough but necessary decision at the time and since then my TV watching has actually become enjoyable again. When you are doing something for work like reviewing TV shows, it does take some of the fun away from it, so now that I am not working on any TV Blogs it kind of feels like everything is back to normal.

So then the question arrises, what am I watching this year? Well let’s go day by day shall we?

Mondays: I watch way to many shows on Monday nights. First off there is Monday Night Football of course. But then there is Chuck and Heroes on NBC. The Big Bang Theory and How I Might Your Mother on CBS, and Jenn and I watch Gossip Girl together. And this is all in one night? You may ask how do I watch all of that in one night? Just wait and you’ll see.

Tuesday: The only show I watch on Tuesdays is brand new and its The Mentalist, which Jenn and I are both huge fans of. Outside of that there is plenty of time to catch up on shows from Monday.

Wednesday: Same sort of deal as Tuesday, not really a big fan of any shows on Wednesday. The only one I watch is the new Jay Mohr comedy Gary Unmarried which I do enjoy a bit. Once again a great night to get caught up on Monday night television.

Thursday: There are two shows that I watch on Thursdays, The Office (my favorite show) and Grey’s Anatomy. Does anyone really like 30 Rock? I really don’t get how it keeps winning Emmy’s.

Friday’s & Saturdays: Nothing, nada, zip.

Sunday’s: FOOTBALL!!!! And of course The Amazing Race on CBS!
