Ok so Jenn and I go out to lunch together every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday during our day at school. We usually hit In & Out, Del Taco, Burger King, and the like. But I have to be honest I am getting so sick of fast food its not even funny. With that being said I decided, you know what I haven’t been feeling good, Jenn hasn’t been feeling good, lets go out and get something good to eat. So we went to the Corner Bakery out here in Irvine (could be considered Tustin) which is basically a sandwich and salad place and they have some pasta’s as well. So the place was packed (big business hangout) and my voice is barely there, but I had Jenn get a table and I went to order. I was feeling a Turkey Sandwich which sounded good on a bit of a warm day, and so I get up to order. I wasn’t really paying attention and when I got up to order I rolled off Jenn’s pasta order and I scrambled to look for a turkey sandwich. I saw the Turkey Harvest (not thinking at all ) I saw turkey and then I saw mustard and decided that sounded good, not reading the rest of the description. So I get back to my seat and meet up with Jenn and then I see on the table an ad for this new sandwich and it looks nothing like I thought. The sandwich comes out and it’s got a whole wheat bread with raisins in it (I don’t like Raisins) and in the sandwich was apple-cranberry chutney, and I have to say it was the worst thing I could ever have ordered. I wish I would have paid any attention and not just saw turkey because I barely touched the sandwich. Jenn was nice enough to share her meal, but it was one of those things that you don’t pay attention, you have a lot on your mind, and you just totally mess up your order. It must be one of those days!
I have listened to Jim Rome since I was five years old. My dad and I have always been huge fans, I remember so many drives to so many places to just sitting back listening to Rome when he was on Xtra Sports 690AM. This was before he went national, and we continued to listen even after he went national. I am sure my Dad has already listened to this, and many of you have probably have seen the amount of coverage that Jim Rome’s take on Miss Teen South Carolina’s melt down on stage. Enjoy the video!!
Last night was the second time Nick Vujicic has come to The Grove (the church I attend) and speak. What makes Nick so special? He has no arms and no legs. Check out this video of him at another Church speaking on his life and his faith:
Let me just say I hate when I start to get on a role with my blog and everything seems to be going well and then I get sick, and everything kind of falls back out of place. So I went to the Genesis concert last Saturday, and it was actually a lot of fun. We went down to the Hollywood Bowl (long drive) and had a good time. Well anyways I got back at like 3am on Sunday and had to do a massive study session for one of my classes which had a Midterm Monday morning. So I knew I wasn’t going to post on Monday, but then Tuesday rolled around and I was sicker then a dog. It is now Friday and I really have been off and on all week, some days have been worse then others, today being one of the more down days.
As many of you know I review video games and I have been getting a ton of packages this week with new games to review and being sick doesn’t make it easy to review all this stuff. It’s tough but I guess someone has to do it. Anyways there is my excuse for not being on the blog for the week, I will be back in full force on Monday. Have a good weekend everyone!
So the time has finally come, I am going to see Genesis tomorrow night at the Hollywood Bowl with my really good friends Chris and Scott. Chris and I have been friends since I can remember, and I went with him to CSUSB while I was there, heck we even carpooled for a bit! Scott and I have known each other since Junior High and I actually haven’t seen him since my High School graduation so it will be good to see him. What got us all together was Genesis, a band mostly known for Phil Collins, is having a reunion tour of sorts and are playing the Hollywood Bowl tonight and tomorrow night. I remember driving around Riverside listening to Genesis on many occasions, and so I brought up the idea with Chris, and we booked it a few months ago! Tomorrow night 7pm, Hollywood Bowl, we are seeing Genesis, it should be great!

So this morning started out like a normal morning. It is Wednesday which means Jenn and I don’t start class tell 10am, so we wake up early and go to IHop for a hearty 3.99 breakfast (eggs, bacon, hashbrowns, and pancakes) and everything was really same as usual. We brought some food home for Jenn’s dog Sparky like we always do, some bacon and some hashbrowns. We walk in the door I immediately go to get my stuff so we can head out to my laptop to get some work done before school, and I hear Sparky yelping really loud and Jenn yells for me to come in. As I walk in Sparky is on the ground shaking and yelping in pain, it was one of those experiences where instincts and adrenaline kick in and you really loose sight of what is going on. Sparky settles down a bit, and let’s a little #1 out, and then gets up, and a minute or two later is waging his tail and running around like nothing had happened. Jenn and I both sat there with our eyes just glazed over, trying to capture our bearings.

Jenn’s mom took Sparky to the Vet and it seems as though as Jenn and I both had thought, he had an epilepsy seizures, and we are finding out tomorrow from his blood work if there was a trigger. The reason I tell the story is to one never take a day for granted, and two just to say how proud I was of Jenn. She was very calm through everything, and as scary as it was, it was even more amazing to see the dog up and about like nothing had ever happened only a minute or two later. It was one of those mornings that takes years off your life, and one that I hope never to experience again. Let’s hope tomorrow brings good news!
So it’s Monday, that means another week of class has begun. This weekend was pretty short, it went by quick, and I didn’t really do a whole heck of a lot outside of homework. But today is Monday and that is my longest day of school of the week I am here from 8am-6pm which means at 6am I am out of the house ready to commute and I will get home about 7:30pm in time for Chuck on NBC. However I made a big mistake when coming to school today, I forgot my Mac Book’s power cord. That’s right, I am at 40% of my Battery here at 10:30am, and I don’t know what I am going to do for the rest of the day. I am so used to having my laptop with me at all times ready to check my e-mails, update blogs, and write reviews. Today in about half an hour, I will be without! Now that’s not the start to the week that I wanted. Well at least I got all my TV Blogs updated! Here is to today, a day without my Mac.
So each and every Sunday I do my best to give you my Searching Deeper column, basically discussing the Christian faith, and many times my own personal faith. Today I have a good assortment of stuff for you, so i hope you enjoy!
Verse of the Week: The true bread of God is the one who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world. John 6:33 NLT
Song of the Week: East to West by Casting Crowns
Devotion of the Week: There is a story of elderly lady who was watching as a pair of golfers sliced their drives deep into the rough. The golfers went in search of their errant golf balls. The grass was high, the trees were thick, and tempers flared as they looked in vain through the underbrush. The elderly lady observed all this from the front porch of her house. After the search had lasted nearly half an hour, she finally called out to them, “I don’t want to bother you men,” she said, “but will it be cheating if I tell you where the golf balls are?”
As we look around us, we see people searching for lost values, for real meaning in life, and for hope. We must not keep silent. Fulfilling the Great Commission means sharing Jesus Christ with those around. It means speaking up and guiding them to forgiveness and salvation.
There are too many churches with impeccable credentials for orthodox theology whose outreach is almost nil. They are sound, but they are sound asleep. It is far too easy for the Church to become a sort of religious clique where Christians retreat from the world.
The church on the Day of Pentecost understood that its primary mission was to reach out to the world. The unity that they experienced and the prayers that they offered were only to help them more ably fulfill the task that Christ had given them to make disciples of all persons. They existed not for their own benefit, but for the benefit of a lost world.
So we are a few weeks into the fall TV season and as you know a lot of my TV blogs are really doing well, and for that I am very happy and I appreciate everyones support. But thus far I have enjoyed most of the shows I blog about, but the one that I really enjoy is Journeyman so far. I like the characters, I like the premise, and I like the execution, and yet I worry it may not be on for much longer. The show has not gotten the strongest ratings, it is at a hit/miss timeslot at 10pm (kind of late), and it is a premise that has been done before, yet at the same time I really love watching it.
My Top Five Shows Watching Right Now (In No Order)
- Journeyman
- Chuck
- Heroes
- The Office
- Bionic Woman
Notables: Beauty and the Geek, Big Bang Theory, and Cavemen.
So I just transferred to UC Irvine back in Winter Quarter of last year, and thus far the classes have been extremely challenging but then again nothing I am deathly afraid of taking. But for the first time since 7th grade I am taking an Art class. The reason is a long story but I am in Studio Art 1A a class entitled Visual Culture which I had to buy my very first and only sketch pad. We have four art assignments, each of which are to be graded and critiqued in front of the class. For those who know me well know that drawing is the least of my skills, in fact I am deathly afraid of standing in front of 30 people having them critique my artwork. So to say the least I am going to be fearing this class every Monday and Wednesday this quarter. So wish me luck everyone, this could be a very interesting quarter to say the least.
